I used to really like the Spec Ops mode (or whatever that objective-based co-op mode was)

It's one of the biggest game franchises of all time. Unless you're getting some deal with your pre-order, it's completely unnecessary.

Not unlike 'Destiny' or last year's 'Ghosts,' 'Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare' is a huge game for Activision and the publisher undertands that many users are still in the process (or even undecided about) upgrading to the new consoles. As a result, the company has announced that for those that buy the digital version (or digital CEs) for the PS3, they will have until March 31st, 2015 to download the digital 'Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare' for the PS4. Likewise, the digital 360 version will also net the user a digital Xbox One version that can de downloaded for the same account as long as it's before the March 31st 2015 deadline.

Even better, this offer means that users who buy either the digital PS3 or 360 versions, will get both versions (either PS3 & PS4 or 360 and Xbox One). The older digital console version will continue to work after the next-gen one is redeemed. (Upgrades within console family only, see Activision's FAQ)

Also important, all DLC purchases, such as the season pass included in the 'Digital Pro Edition,' will be avaiable on both consoles within a console family without deadline.

Finally, Sony has announced that this offer extends to digital purchases of the PS4 version through, meaning that buying the digital PS4 verison also nets the user the digital PS3 version. These offers apply to digital pre-orders.

My question is:

If I purchase the digital version, can I play this game on the PS3 and PS4 at the same time? My son has the PS3 and I have the PS4. Just wondering. Usually when I purchase a digital game, all users on the PS4 can play that game.

Yes. It's like buying two copies of the game. You could be playing both at the same time.

BTW : Best Buy has a Trade In deal with this. Trade In Ghost get $20 TIV for next gen, $10 for last generation, Trade Blops get $10, Trade In Blops II get $15; you also get.a $10 off CoD AW coupon that will stack with the GCU discount and the $10 preorder deal.

Hopefully Microsoft will match Sony offer. That you can preorder the PS4 version and get the PS3 version free. In the Xbox you have to buy the 360 version and then you can get the XB1 version.

That's a big disadvantage since you can't preorder in the 360. So you'll have to wait until November 4th, buy the 360 game and wait for the XB1 to be available.

I think they charge you immediately. Because the game starts downloading right away.

Last week I preorder the Korra game and Halo, both were charged immediately, I had some credit. And both started downloading right away.

While still a juggernaut, the CoD series has been in decline (both in sales and ratings) over the last few installments. I wonder if this one will continue the slide or not.

Best Buy says they will have midnight launches on November 3rd for the Day Zero edition. You can see what stores are participating here.

I traded in a copy of Ghosts on the XB1 for $22 (w/GCU membership), and the $10 off coupon Sunday. I think my daughter is trading a 360 version for a coupon too this week.

I bought a 360 copy of Ghosts from Gamefly for $4 (using an about-to-expire coupon) just to get the $11 trade-in credit and $10 coupon for the next-gen version. :lol:

I'm definitely waiting for reviews from the community before buying this one. I passed on Ghosts after the bad word of mouth I was hearing. I'm still not sold on all the futuristic aspects of the new version.

Ghosts was pretty terrible. I still have high hopes for this one. Looks to be a much better campaign, more interesting weapons and using a next-gen engine this time.

If you have a copy of Ghosts for next gen and GCU, it would essentially cost only $6 + tax to upgrade to AW.

$48 total cost - ($20 trade-in + $2 10% bonus) - $10 off coupon given for trade-in - $10 Reward Zone certificate for pre-order = $6

Makes me really regret buying a digital dual-license copy at launch of the XO :doh:

That is why going fully digital will likely never happen for me. That along with the massive amount of bandwidth it takes to download entire games.

Trade in did not require pre-order. It was in last week's ad, though it looks like the same trade-in value is still active. When you trade in the game it prints out a single-use coupon to save $10 on CoD AW. Does not require a pre-order, but you'd be wise to pre-order it anyway to get the Day Zero edition and the $10 RZ certificate.

Or $60 for Ghost and Advanced via digital game share and I keep both forever. I've gone all digital this gen and its been great.
