Plants Vs Zombies Garden Warfare

This game comes out tomorrow (2/24) at a lower-than-standard pricing for the 360 ($29.99) and for the Xbox One ($39.99). It will be coming in the Spring to PC.

I haven't heard much buzz, there's still a review embargo in effect and I wouldn't be at all surprised if it sucked (or at least disappoints). It sort of looks like an XBLA at a premium price. Then again, Peggle 2 proved to be a pretty great game (if not a big departure from its predecessor), so maybe Pop Cap is still on their game despite the EA Buyout. Guess we'll see tomorrow.

Anyone else interested in this game?

I did the pre-order from Wal-Mart, so I will pick it up tomorrow. I enjoyed the first, but I'm not so sure that I like what I'm seeing in the videos so far. Guess time will tell.

Looks like fun.

Also glad they found something they can run at 1080p.

MOD NOTE:

It wasn't funny.
Not normally welcome regardless of which user.

P.S. I wish more members adhered to the "If you have nothing POSITIVE to say about a topic, then SHUT UP" rule.

I said it looked fun. And it does.

Would like to see it on a handheld, as it seems perfect for short sessions.

As a fan of PvZ, I was going to get this for sure. Then I heard there's no single player campaign and it's MP only. So no sale for me.

I think Titanfall is the same way.

For a $30-$40 game this better not have fucking Micro-Transactions!

It won't.

I haven't paid much attention to this game since it was announced; didn't realize it was just multiplayer.

Re: Plants Vs Zombies Garden Warfare

I'll still never understand why people on this forum seem to get so butt-hurt about "console bashing". It's the only forum I've ever visited where speaking about a console's capabilities (whether truthful, negative, unconstructive, or otherwise) is not allowed. Hell most of what we post is unconstructive, if we were to stop posting comments like those, there'd barely be any activity here!

I didn't know that. Makes it much less interesting for me as well.

From Joystiq:
No microtransactions in PvZ: Garden Warfare at launch

by Thomas Schulenberg Writer RSS on Feb 22nd 2014 4:30PM

Unlike the free-to-play, mobile lawn defense simulator, Plants vs. Zombies 2, microtransactions aren't planned for the launch of Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare.

In an interview with GameSpot, PopCap producer Brian Lindley stated that Garden Warfare won't have microtransactions "at launch," but noted that PopCap will watch in-game metrics and fan reaction to determine where to take the game next.

We can only guess as to what those plans may be, but hopefully they aren't comparable to the temporary "test" of charging to spawn new lawnmowers in PvZ2, as reported by GameSpot.

There's a difference between, (1) "This game looks better on the PS4 because of reasons X, Y, Z" and (2) going into every XBox game thread just to say that it's inferior to the PS4 version.**

We not only allow #1 but we encourage it. So your highlighted statement above is quite incorrect. However, we don't care for #2, and if that means there will be very little activity here, then so be it.

As a general rule, we don't want fanboyism to be overly expressed if it means constantly bringing down competing consoles. It's annoying. Just stay in your corner (threads dedicated to the consoles of your choice) and say good shit about the console and shut up about any of the other consoles. If you want to be critical, then be equally critical towards all systems, and if you can't, then go away and find another forum to troll.

**This is just an example. This may or may not reflect exactly what's going on here so don't anyone freak out.

I hear enough snark about apple vs android, mac vs pc, etc throughout my real life that I want the internet to be my last bastion of civilized discussion.

IGN gave it a "good" ... limited split screen was their biggest negative

As it turns out, this is the best-reviewed game being released today.

Re: Plants Vs Zombies Garden Warfare

ok ... just picked it up and encountered a problem before even playing 1 game ... it is asking me to setup an origin account, but isn't letting me actually log into the origin account I already have! WTF!

Re: Plants Vs Zombies Garden Warfare

I hate when console games ask me to log into their proprietary accounts as well as my Xbox Live or PSN account. Never understood why I needed to do that with EA or THQ (though I do sort of get it with Ubisoft, given the Uplay rewards and all that).
