PvP = Player vs Player. Those are the events where you go against another players team. Falcon and Shield and the Lightning rounds are all PvP.

PvE = Player vs Environment. Those are typically your week long events where there's a story line. The Prologue is an example of a PvE event. You’re not fighting other players teams.

Alliance request sent. If it's under my Steam name, I think that's just my full name, including last name, which I'd rather not post here.

I'm also happy to kick in $5. Where exactly do I kick it in to?

Approved you jason and you buldrhm. Alliance full again but we can add up to 5 more spots.

fumanstan 04-29-14 10:16 AM

We still need a spot for DaveNinja too, so we might need to kick the random guy.

TOTAL DONATIONS - $27.50

Received contributions from JasonF and flashburn. That's all the funds we needed. Thanks everyone for pitching in.

I opened up another slot (5 total). Let's save it for DaveNinja.

I don't understand the insane buffs they give to certain characters during different events. I know they do it to help you out and let you try a new character, but like the current one, it buffs two characters to level 100+, which makes even the "hard" mode event super easy.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

How much harder is the Hard mode on The Simulator? At the current enemy levels, I can probably breeze through Easy mode. But I don't want to switch to Hard mode if it's going to keep me from competing in half the battles.

Keep winning and just wait. When the enemies get buffed to 200+ you'll be singing a different tune... :)

You don't have to switch between hard mode and regular, do both until it's too hard for you. I actually recommend hitting the top earners, then go through the progression as soon as you enter the node, then wait like 12 hours for it to refill.

Hey guys.

I played this game last year for a minute but gave up because well honestly I didn't know what was going on.

And I just wandered in here and see all this alliance stuff and people putting money in paypal.

Usually the first post has a synopsis of what is happening So can anyone give a short rundown of what you guys are doing and what this game is about.

It looks like a battle game using the candy crush/blitz game platform.

So is Hard mode a separate event? Will it unlock a second event (keeping the Easy mode event open)? Or does it take over the Easy mode event and just increase the enemy levels?

That's basically what it is. As you finish each battle, you get awards that help you build better characters and unlock new characters. There are also special events that allow you to win bigger awards.

The events give additional awards based on team (alliance) performance. So by joining together, all the alliance members get more awards.

Opening up additional slots on the alliance costs a lot of points. Those points are valuable because they're needed to level up. Nobody wants to give up their hard earned points. To get the points needed to open additional alliance spots, we bought a bundle of points. So that's why we're collecting Paypal. And existing alliance members are willing to pitch in, because a stronger alliance means more awards for the team.

I don't know if that makes any sense. Maybe someone else can explain it better.

It just shows up as a separate event to choose from.

To expand on what TheBigDave said as far as the game goes, it's match 3, but more complicated then the games you mentioned. Basically you play with a roster of different comic book characters, each with special abilities that correspond to different colors. When you match enough of that color, you get to use their special abilities that can do things like attack for more damage, heal yourself or others, add more of one color to the board, add a critical hit, etc. You're also playing against either the Computer or other players' heroes, who are doing the same moves back against you so there's some strategy to it as far as winning matches.

The game has various storylines and events that go on, so the more you play the more you earn rewards that can get you other random characters on your team ('covers' in the game) and more points to upgrade your characters. Or you can spend real money and buy covers and upgrades faster if you want.

Easiest thing to do is download the game again on your phone, tablet, or PC or whatever and try to play it some more

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

I just crushed my way to 800 points in the Falcon event. Based on our alliance ranking, we should be top 500 and get 1000 ISO and 50 coins.

I also just passed 3000 for the training event, so I got the Hulk cover and I'll get a Punisher one for this event.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

I started off doing well in The Falcon, by my standards at least, and got to around 300 points versus yellow opponents. This was around 11pm CT yesterday. Then, I woke up and saw I was attacked a bunch of times and now all of my available opponents are red to me (lvl 50s - my highest is lvl30) even with me skipping opponents to the point where I have to start spending ISO to do the next skip. Is this normal for events especially if I don't have high level heroes yet?

Also, I think I'm doing well in The Simulator Round 1. I have 3200+ points and am ranked 22. I'm sure this won't last though.

Yes, it is common. You will get crushed until you start leveling up guys. They are doing a better job of matching you with people of your similar level as you move up, though.

I will give 2 pieces of advice. Go through all the training stuff and get as many covers/iso/coins as you can. Play through them repeatedly. That helps you grind to build up. Also, focus on leveling up one person at a time. I spread out my stuff too much when I was early and it made it more difficult. By focusing on one or maybe 2 characters, it will build those up faster, which will allow you to win more and get more rewards.

We finished 334, so the 1000 ISO and 50 coins should be incoming.

fumanstan 04-30-14 11:10 AM

Top 100 in Falcon for me.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

Damn, I really wanted top 25 in the Falcon event, but just got slaughtered at the end. I played for about the last 25 minutes and was winning every round in 3-4 minutes. And every time I beat one, my points went down because multiple people defeated me while I was playing. I started at 787 points and ended at 684, after 6 or 7 straight wins. Go figure.

As for the new Simulator event, I wish they'd keep you in the same group for both the main and sub events. Earlier, I had top 5 in both sub events, but was in the 40s overall. Since available points are determined within sub events, it seems crappy to have you competing against other people in the overall.

Here's a great guide about how to level up your characters. Lots of good tips and recommendations on which characters to use.

I was so excited that I made top 50 and got a Punisher cover... but black is the one color I already maxed out, so it's basically just 500 crystals. Argh. Should've pushed for higher.
