Re: Microsoft Studios acquires rights to Gears of War franchise

I hate how Microsoft has it in their heads that access to an early Beta of a more-highly anticipated upcoming is somehow a game feature.
I guess Sony is doing it too with their new Uncharted bundle as well.

Things like that have been around for awhile though. Hell, I remember Zone of Enders being a big deal because of a demo for Metal Gear Solid way back when.

Anyone else get unsolicited GoW:UE Beta invites from XBL?

Re: Microsoft Studios acquires rights to Gears of War franchise

I received two different messages with two different codes. Are they both required or can I give one away?

Re: Microsoft Studios acquires rights to Gears of War franchise

You need TWO codes to access the beta. A download code and an access code. Both need to be redeemed to play

Gotcha, that's what I was assuming, but it wasn't exactly clear from the messages.

Signed up online for the Beta, although I played a couple of the old ones so I should have received one earlier. But anyway, got the beta codes a few hours later, the download was mere minutes, and I was promptly reminded how bad I'm at multiplayer FPS. Looking forward to single player though.

I played one match. They is an improvement in the graphics but its not a big enough improvement for me to repurchase this game. With everything else coming out I just won't have time for this Gear 1 again. I might give Gears 4 a chance but that's about it.

The graphics are a pretty big improvement but did the game always feel this weightless? It's just, I dunno, kind of unsatisfying.

Played it for about 2 minutes. The graphics looked pretty damn good to me. I just have no interest in playing death matches in Gears of War.

Wasn't at all impressed myself. Looked okay but too dark to really appreciate much. Was an indoor map and that made everything very dark. Won't be buying this one at all.

Didn't know it was a remake. All I ever heard was remaster.

yeah watched it earlier today on X1, always knew it was a remake but people kept on calling it a remaster.

I barely played multi for Gears but did they make the shotguns stronger or have they always been that goddamn powerful?

Always. It's why Gears MP has always been a shotgun-fest.

It says remastered on their website, but also says rebuilt from the ground up - http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/gears-of-war-ultimate

I guess it's being nitpicky about the terms, but i'd be surprised if the genuinely recreated all the models and textures for this game.

I dunno. That video shows new models. Textures look like the old areas but they look modern, as in gaming graphics, too.
