You can get past almost all of them if you know where you're going. I feel like there were plenty of extra stun batons lying around throughout the game if you search thoroughly, but of course that may not help you if you're already out. Molotovs work pretty well in a pinch too.

Finished this tonight. Awesome game, easily in my top 3 of 2014. I heard they made it to a million copies sold so far. Hopefully that is enough to warrant some sort of follow up. I've played all of the major Alien games over the years (and even finished Colonial Marines) and this is easily the best one IMO.

Re: Alien: Isolation - 10/7/14 (PS4,XO,PS3,360,PC)

I just started playing this game and already feel like a dumbass. I had to look up where to go in just the second mission as I spent a long ass time wandering back and forth before finding out there was a hatch on the ground.

I'm really annoyed at how slow the character moves, even when running. And i'm also annoyed at having to wait a couple seconds to save a game, as well as having to hold down buttons to use that stupid maintenance jack. Maybe i'm just too damn impatient

I just started this as well. I got stuck on one of the later levels. I died at least 10-15 times before I got got lucky enough to get through it.

This is one of those games I have been on the fence about for months. Just when I am about to pull the trigger...I don't . I have heard that the save points are frustratingly placed.

I can't complain about the save points. There are plenty.

I picked this up, too. At $24, and based on the recommendations of some of you guys, I finally decided it was worth a try.

Not only are there a good amount of save points, they actually make a noise when you're close to them, so you're unlikely to miss them.

I picked this up in November and played for about 30 mins. Liked it, but had too much else to go through between then and now. Finish up Watch Dogs and then move onto this. Looking forward to it.

The whole hide from the alien thing is more annoying than scary. The first couple of times, you're scared as you move from room to room.

After dying 17 times, it gets old. I was hiding in a locker and the alien comes up close and I see a brief notification to hold my breath. I didn't have time to press the button and he pulls off the door and I'm dead.

It really makes me understand why this game was rated low.

That's what makes the game so intense though. It can get frustrating but you never know what the alien is going to do, and you never truly feel safe because there is no safe area.

If it really bugs you though play it on easy. You can pretty much stand right next to the alien and not have it attack you.

Agree on both accounts. I think you can drop the difficulty at any time as well? On easy though, he's not joking. You can literally walk five feet behind the Alien and it won't realize you're there.

Yeah, I've been playing it on easy and have been enjoying it so far. Don't know if I care to up the difficulty.

I put it on novice

You're right about the alien being dumber. I walked right in front of him, and backed up and hid and he walked right past.

He did catch me when I was hiding under a table though because he saw me halfway across the room. Of course he never would have come in if it weren't for these stupid dudes that decided to start shooting at me. They quickly found out how bad of an idea that was

I should switch to easy too. I'm not sure I have the patience for this game otherwise.

I still die, and it's still tense on novice. It may sound weird but dying still feels like a scary thing, and not a frustrating one.

I will say that there is something incredibly satisfying about alerting the Alien and having it come in and clean house for you.

Third-Person Alien: Isolation Prototype Shown Off in Vid

Creative Assembly has revealed footage of a prototype for Alien: Isolation running in third-person. You can watch the vid below, taken somewhat illicitly during the studio’s Game Developers Conference session yesterday.

The finished version of Alien: Isolation, of course, viewed in first-person, allowing you to see through the eyes of protagonist Amanda Ripley. The footage below, meanwhile, shows how the game as it was originally envisaged.

“The difference between first and third [person] was extraordinary,” said creative director Alistair Hope during the session. “The third person felt like an Alien game, which is cool. But the first person felt like Alien.”

We’re not convinced that third-person would have worked particularly well for Alien: Isolation either. Third-person can still be scary, but it provides the player with greater peripheral vision and increased situational awareness. A lot of the tension in Alien: Isolation comes from what you can’t see.

Either way, the footage is a fascinating look at what could have been and an insight into the creation of our GotY 2014 winner.

Re: Alien: Isolation - 10/7/14 (PS4,XO,PS3,360,PC)

Just finished this one on Hard and while I enjoyed it alot, I feel like most everyone else and felt it overstayed its welcome a bit. By Chapter 15 I was just looking up guides on where to go next because I was sick of dying over and over. The first couple of chapters were amazing though and probably the best survival horror has had to offer in a while.

I just finished this yesterday on medium. Good game, just hated to get killed over and over by that annoying alien who seem to find me whatever I go. Play the Crew Expendable as Ripley, real short and die a bunch of times by that damn alien but I finish it.

Re: Alien: Isolation - 10/7/14 (PS4,XO,PS3,360,PC)

I was shocked to see I didn't get the achievement for getting killed 100 times by the alien. Sure felt like that many. Wife sits down to watch while I'm trying to earn the achievement and ask why I keep running straight at the alien. She responds with that's the stupidest thing to do over and over for a trophy. I guess I can't argue with her on that one.
