From the fifteen minutes I played of Gone Home it appeared worth the money. Neat voice acting and I was really intrigued by the mystery combined with the mundane. Maybe it is just me craving a new experience but I liked the feel of working on a puzzle/problem that is realistic and believable.
I want more roguelikes. I love FTL. I like Dungeons of Dredmore. Now I want something new.
Has anyone played Sword of the Stars? I can't really tell if it is more roguelike on ships/planets or if it is more a 4x space exploration game.

Does anyone else get text updates? I set it up to text my phone when my wishlist games go on sale, but I missed the Stanley Parable and Gone Home updates. I was never texted.

I have email updates on for my wishlist and didn't receive anything either. Wonder if they turned them off after LFD2 brought steam down?

I may have to rescind my recommendation of Guacamelee. I'm finding it rather frustrating:
1) some really tricky jumping puzzles pop up in this game. Things like: jump, switch dimensions, uppercut, switch dimensions all in about 2 seconds. Then do that again 3 more times without screwing it up or you start over. UGH
2) They frequently lock you in a corridor and force you to fight a lot of monsters at once, each with a different color shield that requires a different special move to remove. annoying, especially when it happens right after the tricky jumping puzzle, and there's no save point between them.
3) Probably the biggest grievence: there's no sense of exploration. In Metroid & Super Metroid, they were still relatively linear, but you had to wander around until you hit a deadend, and then back track until you found where you are supposed to go. This game tells you exactly where you have to go, which takes the fun out of it. And along the way you'll pass a red block, and think, when I can break red blocks, I should come back here. It's very paint by the numbers.
I do like the mexican setting, though!
LOL, but hey! It just went on sale for $3.74 again, so if that doesn't scare you off, pick it up!

I notice that Giana Sisters is up on the flash deals, and I really enjoy platformers. However I don't like super hard/frustrating platformers (sorry Super Meat Boy), and have read that GS can fall into that category. I see in the description it says there is a new Easy mode (equal to normal in other games) anyone have any insight?

Only this : $1.79 is pretty damn cheap. Even if you end up hating it, I can't imagine it would provide much more regret than one might experience for ordering a soda with their fast food lunch rather than just asking for a water cup.
I bought Gone Home and checked it out for a bit. It's....different. That much is certain. I'm not sure if it'll be a good "game", but it's at least an interesting journey so far.

Hmm, tempted to get Brothers A Tale of Two Sons for $4.49. Deadpool for $9.99 might be cheap enough for a fun romp...

Brothers is currently on sale for that price on the 360 and will be free for PS Plus in Jan. Just in case you didn't know.
I'm playing Deadpool on the 360 right now. I guess it's worth $9.99 for a diversion, but I'm really disappointed at how shoddy and buggy the game is. It's also unnecessarily crude. I'm not enjoying it as much as I thought I would.

I don't think I want to get any digital content on PS3 or 360 at this point in time, since I don't even know how long i'll keep either console. I prefer most things on PC lately anyway.
Tempted to get Dust too.

Yesterday I had the opposite problem as the front page was showing Don't Starve at 92% off for a while but not in the cart.

I almost got it for the PS3. Then decided to check some videos and found out that's not my kind of game. I would have the same reaction as the both of you.

Is Xcom worth it? $10 for base game +$15 for the DLC...keep in mind that this will probably be just another game that gets added to the pile like so much kindling but it keeps going on sale and I've read some really solid reviews so I'm torn.

Here's what I go through every time for Steam sale;
Is this a game i plan to play anytime soon? If yes go for it at $10. If no, wait till it drops to $5 .

I didn't realize Deadpool was getting delisted (along with most of Activision's Marvel games) on Steam, XBL, and PSN. I guess I should have picked it up. D'oh.

Only played the base game on ps3 but I actually finished it so it was good enough to me. Bought it again for PC at amazon.

Re: Steam Holiday Sale 2013 (12/19/13 - 1/3/14)
I'm glad I bought everything during flash/community choice sales because the only last day sale I got was Tomb Raider. Even that I messed up on. I should have bought the Complete pack for $14.
I got a bunch of smaller and indie games. Been playing the hell out of Terraria and Guacamelee.
PS. Guacamelee is not too difficult. There is one frustratingly hard boss fight (Javier) and some optional frustratingly hard platforming, but 90% is practically casual difficulty. You can expect to die/fail a lot, but the penalty is extremely low with almost every instance having you just immediately try the same fight/jump again.

I only ended up buying Dust (and Brothers, but from Amazon who matched Steam's price). I want Batman, but I feel like it will drop far less then the current $24.99 pretty quickly.

My haul:
Tomb Raider
Mark of the Ninja
Nihilumbra
Deadlight
PixelJunk Eden
Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons
Dust: An Elysian Tail
World of Goo
Guacamelee! Gold Edition
Spelunky
Terraria
Total: $39.14
@fusmanstan
I felt the same way about Batman. It seems the Arkham games drop quicker than other big titles. Even now it's 50% off when other big fall titles were 25-33% off.
