I didn't even ask for an outright refund, I asked for the difference to be credited back so that I could buy another steam game in the near future.

If this is how they handle sales issues, I'm going to be buying less in the future.. I would understand if I bought the game a week or more previously.. But within 24 hours I expected some satisfactory response.

WAIT FOR THE DAILY DEALS, YOU BASTARDS!

You *NEVER* buy anything during the Steam sales unless it's a daily/flash/community deal until the last day. I totally understand being overwhelmed that everything is discounted by a fair margin, but those discounts will go deeper if it's a featured deal. Otherwise, the discounts will be the same throughout the sale.

Which is why I felt ok buying YDKJ at that time. It was already back on sale again for 50% off and I could not see it going deeper for 10-20 year old games that are dated trivia questions.... Will see what they say to my response to their "nothing we can do" email.

I can assure you that you're not going to get your $5 back. I can't tell you how many times I've bought something on a Steam/Amazon/GMG sale and then had it go lower a couple days later. It's just the way it is with PC Gaming, and you roll the dice each time.

Granted, all of that content you got is totally worth the $10, so I don't see the big deal. Hell, I bought it during the Fall sale, and I haven't even touched any of them yet.

This is unfortunately standard practice, not just steam. Amazon credited my acct the difference for a FarCry 3 sale a few weeks ago, but I feel like I lucked out in getting it.

Looks to be a widespread problem maybe due to LFD2 being given away.

EDIT: 909PM EST Looks like its getting back up on its feet. Slowly but surely. Just made 2 purchases but the processing took oonger than usual but were successful.

Trapped in an endless captcha loop trying to log-in. No Christmas freebie for me this year.

FYI, L4D2 is still free. I just got it. Perhaps they extended it due to the site problems.

I got it. But frankly I'll probably never play it again. Just too many games to go through and too little time.

Do you guys think Tomb Raider will go back to down to $10 or less on Steam? Amazon has it for $8, but I have some steam credit to spend.

So there's this indie game on Steam called Guacamelee that is worth checking out ...It's a Mexican wrestling themed Metroid type game. But instead of having guns, you beat up the bad guys with wrestling moves. I got it on a flash sale for $3.75, and so far it's totally worth it. Oh yeah, it's a 2 player coop game too.

Debated on the game for a while, went with 'Cook, Serve, Delicious!' instead. Hoping Guacamelee goes back on sale before the end of the winter sale.

It's phenomenal. I played it on the PS3 and the Vita and really enjoyed it. It's on sale at the PSN store right now as well. I highly recommend it.

What are the games people are looking out for? I'm looking for 75% discounts on Gone Home, the Stanley Parable, Typing of the Dead, and Papers, Please. Those seem to be small games that have made it to a lot of best of lists.

Re: Steam Holiday Sale 2013 (12/19/13 - 1/3/14)

Papers Please was a community choice yesterday.

I am waiting for more cheap pinball tables. Finally broke down and rebought some of them on Steam since my xbox is shelved for now.

I got Gone Home but my old video card doesn't have enough onboard RAM and it plays really poorly for me - but I still love what little bit I played. Very atmospheric.

Re: Steam Holiday Sale 2013 (12/19/13 - 1/3/14)

I was tempted to buy Gone Home (currently 66% off) but have held off. I bought Stanley when it was on sale earlier this week.

I was waiting on DmC and Mortal Kombat, both were on sale earlier this week for $9 and $6.74 respectively on GMG. Picked up Saints Row the Third: Full Package ($7.49) from Amazon. Along with Binary Domain ($3.75) and Castle of Illusion ($3.75).
