Good video here covering it....but yea, the general thought is these are going to cost a arm and leg.....which along with the next gen CPU's will break the bank. Many are also saying it might actually be a good time to buy/build a PC many might want to move excess product out....which is why I'm back to looking and keeping tabs.

I might as well wait for AMD at this point. Either way I need to upgrade at least my CPU/Motherboard so I’m going to wait for AM5. We pretty much know the 13900K will top it whenever it comes out.

I've never owned or had a AMD CPU but everytime lately I'm always looking on sites that do custom builds or Pre-Built for a AMD....mainly the Ryzen 5 5600X based on the reviews and praise being a solid middle ground performer. Since mentioning waiting on the Nex Gen, here's a video of nothing but praise on the next AMD CPU's...I might just wait myself...

I have an AMD Ryzen 5 3600, I have no complaints against it - cheap and very effective.

It's paired with a 2070 Super which is also still doing very well.

I saw some of the projected prices on the upcoming Motherboards.....yikes...the Flagship Model(s) will weigh in at about $1200.00....I thought Video Card prices were getting insane...and if you throw in one of those....you can have two components alone at $1000 to $1600....I'll still wait and see but when the new stuff hits, all that current stuff might be a good bargain....

Well...size and price is huge....retail is $1599.00.....-ohbfrank-....

Add that to the New Motherboard and CPU Prices and I seriously might just look for a bargain with last gen stuff. Several solid Video cards that were $700-$1000 months ago have dropped $200 or more. CPU's have sort of remained steady but SSD's have dropped. There was a report the other day that said Chip Prices might start increasing again....

The rumor is Nvidia is spinning their initial limited supply of 4000 cards into an advantage via price-gouging the early adopters. The people who absolutely need the cutting edge tech will bleed for the new 4000 cards, while most everyone else pays more reasonable prices for the 3000 cards Nvidia is still making and selling.

It could end up being two-tier, like how Apple keeps selling the previous-gen iPhone as its budget offering for a while after the release of a new iPhone.

Definitely inspires me to wait and see what the landscape is like once these new GPUs and CPUs are already established in the market. I just wanna play games, not brag about clock/rendering speeds.

I checked again a few PC Building Sites...we got our last one from Cyberpower and it's been solid. They already have the New Motherboards listed but saying not until 10/20. I almost picked up a system today but I want to wait and see on the Motherboards, CPU and GPU prices after the next gen GPU's and CPU's come out...plus see conflicts, bugs, issues with hardware and software.

iI stopped watching at the 1:03 mark when he said..."it's worth every penny" and before that even said it's affordable...what planet are these people living on?....sure the diehard "Got to have the latest, greatest mega speed no-matter-what" PC gamers will fetch it up along with scalpers. But a vast majority out there this is no-where near within reach at $1599.00.......and that sucker is huge. It'll swallow up space even in a mid-tower case....geeezzzz

I have a huge tower case, and I would not put that beast in it.

These graphics cards are just getting more ridiculous each generation.

Beyond time for them to actually get to making the cards a lot more efficient both in power and size.

Meh that's always frustrating, plus at worst scalpers break even. But it's fun watching them not hit their lofty goals, same thing happened with the recent market flood of Steam Decks.

I am building a gaming pc for my son and really could use some recommendations for which parts to get. I already bought the case.

We already have a monitor also. I would like to try to keep everything else in the 1000-1200 range total. Would that be possible and still run any game out?

Does it matter if I go with Intel or AMD? Is one better for gaming? What cpu and processor should I get?

Is the GeForce Rtx 3060 a powerful enough graphics card?

Any help would be appreciated. This is a little confusing to me with all of the different products out there.

Anything semi current will be able to run everything - it just depends what resolution you're trying to put out. 1080p, 1440p or 4k.

"Powerful enough" is a very relative term for PC gaming, and depends on what, specifically, you want to do.

PC games are designed to run across a range of CPU and GPU performance capabilities. In addition to RichC2's comment about resolution, there's also framerate to consider, as well as how many effects like HDR you want enabled in games.

You mention already having a monitor. What's the brand/model? The specs of the monitor may affect how powerful a PC you'll want to use with it. For example, if it's only 1080p 60hz, a cheaper PC build can likely play most current games and the maximum settings the monitor can handle.

Thanks for all of the replies. I’m new to this so it’s been a little overwhelming. I might be making it a little harder than it needs to be. I will check out those links.

I bought my son one of those budget HP gaming laptops from Walmart two years ago and he said the games he played were unplayable on it. Although, I watched some YouTube reviews on the laptop and the people seemed to like it. I just want to make sure I do it right this time.

Pcpartpicker has some recommended builds. This one might work great for you at 1440p and would fit your budget (you already have a case, so you'll be well under $1000). Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see the parts and direct links to where to buy them at the lowest price. You can switch out the case to the one that you already have to ensure that everything will fit.

You will do better going with an AMD graphics card since your monitor supports AMD FreeSync Premium.

Thanks a lot. These links have made everything a lot easier. I didn’t know about the AMD free sync with my monitor. That sounds like a nice feature to have.
