That sucks, one of the big benefits to water cooling should be that the system is very quiet. It may be worth revisiting your setup if the noise bothers you (and bad cooling isn't fixed).

But if you have an X1 you would prefer the X1 controller.
And although I expect major support, I think the safest choice , at least for a year, will be the 360 controller.

It probably depends on the game, but theoretically there shouldn't be any issues with anything recent as they should all be using a specific API called XInput for compatibility.

Caved and bought Arkham Origin for $6.37 on Green Man Gaming after IFDSUM-MERSAL-E15OFF code that gives an additional 15% off. They've had sales all week for anyone looking for cheap games.

My wife wants The Sims 4.
My wife wants The Sims 4... which means I might need to upgrade my PC so she can play it...
My wife said I have until September to "make a computer" that will work well with The Sims 4 [and any other damn game I please].

"You need a $1000 graphics card to play The Sims 4?"
"Yes."
Simple as that.
Also Fifa 15 will use the next-gen engine.

New CPU cooler and new PSU installed.
It was a bit touch-and-go thanks to some amateur mistakes when I closed everything up only to realize that I forgot to install my RAM cards and then again when I realized I never plugged the CPU to the PSU.
So much for working out tonight. I'm all grumpy and beat.

Re: PC Gaming Thread
Well, after building my last gaming centered PC over 8 years ago and not playing on it for almost 7years, I dragged myself back in.
Strangely it was a trip to Half Price books that spurred my return. I wasn't even there for myself, so I was taking a look at their games section and saw some titles on PC that I had wanted to play my my PS3 for 1/3 the price they were going for on consoles and just went hmm....
A little over $700 and two days later I had all the parts to build a decent mid-level gaming machine (6 core AMD, GTX 750ti, SSD, 8gb ram).
Forgot how nice it was to play things at max settings. Glad this thread got bumped. I'm browsing green man gaming now!

With Steam Streaming (Desktop -> Laptop -> HDMI-out on TV) and/or a Wireless HDMI solution, your PC turns into one hell of a console, maxed out, and 95% backwards compatible. It's nice.
Highly Recommend:

....the Steam Big Picture interface is also really nice: http://youtu.be/xwHrcMtB4go?t=4m25s

They are flash hourly deals unfortunately, so lots of checking if you don't want to miss anything. They do show the upcoming next couple hours at least.

Guess it's been leaked that the Steam Summer Sale is going to start on June 19th, so much earlier than last year, if true.

Gah, part of me wants to rebuy the Mass Effect trilogy on PC as well (also owned on 360) but I guess I can wait since it's on sale fairly regularly.

Re: PC Gaming Thread
I believe some fans discovered part of the console control scheme code in the first Mass Effect which is what made modding it for the 360 controller possible.

They said outright they would not support the 360 controller on ME for some reason or another,
