Re: Game of Thrones: An Episodic Game Series from Telltale Games

They probably figure that people will start watching the new season and get the urge to download and play the game.

I'm starting to become really disappointed at how one-dimensionally evil the villians in this game are. Characterizing both the heroes and villains in shades of grey was one of the book series' biggest strengths.

Damnit, I feel like I make the wrong decision each time.

The only decision I didn't regret this episode (regardless of the consequences) was
Spoiler:
killing the Whitehall soldier who killed Gared's family. Straight up told Jon Snow "yea, don't care that he's a brother now, I'm killing him"

Re: Game of Thrones: An Episodic Game Series from Telltale Games

Did they have Jon Snow say your character's name wrong when they initially recorded the dialogue and then hastily re-record just that one word later? Every time he addresses you in Episode 3 is sounds insane.

Re: Game of Thrones: An Episodic Game Series from Telltale Games

finished this up.

This was a low point for telltale. If I had not bought the season pass I would have never bought another episode after 2. I still don't know why I kept playing, but I guess I wanted to see how this train wreck ended. Everything wrong with telltale games, but none of the good things. With how strong Tales from the Borderlands pulled things back together with the final episode I held out hope, but sadly nothing.

I would not recommend this to anyone, even for 5 bucks.

My list from best to worst

Walking Dead Season 1
The Wolf Among Us
Tales from the Borderlands (saved by a strong beginning and end)
Walking Dead Season 2
Anal rape
Game of Thrones.

I laugh at the idea they are making season 2. I would imagine this sold ok because of the name, but I would be SHOCKED if season 2 sold shit. Worst game I have played this generation, and one of the worst games I have ever finished.

I never played Anal rape. Seemed a bit shitty, and well let's face it, money was tight.

Re: Game of Thrones: An Episodic Game Series from Telltale Games

I was a little frustrated after finishing this last night. There is some ok story here, and really because of the nature of this game I actually would recommend youtube videos over playing it.

The biggest problem with telltale games is they love to have you make choices and then throw those choices in your face. The better tales games don't get carried away with this or have other qualities that make up for it. This game seems to be nothing but beating you down with everything you do.

these are not spoilers directly, but overall spoilers on how telltale games work..

You have to steal something. You are then confronted. You are given the choice to lie or tell the truth. If you lie, it turns out they already know you are guilty, or someone else gives proof. If you tell the truth you are of course in trouble for stealing.

You are asked to do something. That person wants you to promise you will. Then the game will do everything in its power to make you break that promise. If you do break that promise you will immediately be confronted by the person that you promised so they can throw it in your face. You can actually spoil the game for yourself if you realize that if someone makes you promise to do something that within a few minutes you will be doing the opposite of that.

Game of thrones uses this style from start to finish. By episode 3 it was non stop, and just went down hill. By episode 4 I just took the silent way EVERY SINGLE TIME. It of course made no difference at all. People might make a small comment about your silence, but ultimately you could see how they wanted you to go and they took you there no matter what. Your choices mean nothing.

Re: Game of Thrones: An Episodic Game Series from Telltale Games

I know these games are little more than interactive cutscenes at this point, but that's okay by me. I like little bite sized chunks of video games that I can play in between these stupid massive open world games.

Haven't played the last episode yet, but I've enjoyed my time in GoT. No regrets.

Re: Game of Thrones: An Episodic Game Series from Telltale Games

I still enjoyed the game, though I agree it's Telltale's weakest effort. I think my biggest issue is how visually unappealing the game is. The art style just didn't work for me.

Finished this up last night. Didn't really care for pretty much nothing wrapping up, but still thought it was enjoyable.

Re: Game of Thrones: An Episodic Game Series from Telltale Games

Picked up the season pass for $5 on PS4. Haven't followed much of the game to avoid spoilers, but I'm sure it will be an entertaining time. And this is one of the few games my wife will watch me play.

Re: Game of Thrones: An Episodic Game Series from Telltale Games

Episode 6 was glitchy as fuck. Freezing, framerate drops, missing audio, etc.

The battle at Iron Wrath was pretty fun. I loved decapitating Ludd.

Other than that, there were alot of loose ends...is there going to be a season 2 that continues the Forrester story? If not, then that's really disappointing, since the story hasn't been wrapped up.
