Is Saints Row IV worth 50% off?
 

I have enough Amazon credit to buy Saints Row IV, which is 50% off right now. I haven't played any of the previous Saints Row games so I have to ask those that have played them... Should I spend my credit on this, or pass?

If you haven't played either I say get SR3 when it goes on sale, which it does often, for $5-10 depending if it's just the game or the full DLC pack.

It's the same engine, same humor, and I think it's a better game overall. If you like 3 and want more then you can get IV, but I don't think going back would work as well.

Saints Row IV was an extremely pleasant surprise, and that's from someone who really enjoyed 2 & 3. It was a lot of things mixed together, not the least of which being the sequel that Crackdown deserved and never got. That said, I think you missed out on the 50% off and wouldn't advise paying $50 for it, just because it's already been cheap and will be cheap again in the near future.

I liked SRIV just fine, but GTAV is the better choice if you've played neither. Also, it may be helpful to start with earlier SR games since there are a ton of references that you'll miss otherwise (doesn't affect gameplay though).

Thanks for all your replies. Ya I do have GTA V already, it's a great game.

I think it's still on sale, I just checked the xbox marketplace and it's still listed as $29.99 (isn't it normally $60?)

But I think I'll try getting the earlier games first. Like maxfisher said, if it's on sale now, it will be again.

It was $15 on PC late last month (if that's an option for you). I'm sure it will be on sale again around Christmas time.
