This might be my favorite looking controller all generation! Too bad I really don't need anymore controllers.

Re: Xbox One: S $249 Now / X $499 November 7 2017

So odd thing I'm not sure if it's a problem or what.
My X1X is connected to the internet - I went to Edge, then Fast.com, to double check.
I put in a bluray (I use the X as my bluray player). It took a few moments to boot up.
I tried to use the BD-Live feature, and it kept saying "Please ensure the player is connected to the internet." It never worked, before, during, or after watching the movie.
Does playing a BD 'disconnect' the X1X from the internet, or perhaps is BDLive functionality defunct on the server side so I was connected, but there was nothing to connect to? (It was the "Tommy" bluray if that makes a difference.)

Settings > Disc & Blu-ray > Blu-ray. Make sure "Enable BD Live to improve Blu-ray playback" is ON. I think it's off by default.

Microsoft has launched Xbox All Access, which gets you an Xbox Console, XBL Gold, and Xbox Game Pass for no upfront cost, just a monthly fee for 2 years. Only available in-store at a Microsoft Store for a limited time:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/b/xboxallaccess

Paying $35/month for two years gets you an XB1X, XBL Gold, and Game Pass. That's $840 over two years, or about $20 less than buying a XB1X for $500 and paying $360 over two years for Xbox Live Gold ($60/year) and Game Pass ($120/year).

Paying $22/month for two years gets you an XB1S and the same services, for about $62 less than paying for them all separate.

Edit: You also keep the hardware at the end of the 2 years.

Here's an article with more info/discussion on it:
https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2018/...ear-agreement/

Hardware as a Service (HAAS)? Interesting... I remember they teased something like this a few years back, either at the start of the Xbox One generation, or with the 360.

Not that any of us ever pay $60 for Live and $120 for Game Pass. It's only a "deal" for someone who can't afford to buy an X1X outright. Even then you'd be better off waiting for a BF sale. If money is tight, I don't know why anyone would commit to two years of Game Pass (or buy an X1X for that matter).

Re: Xbox One: S $249 Now / X $499 November 7 2017

Decent approach to making it easy to get, although you can definitely find it for cheaper buying all at once. They're really trying to support Game Pass.

So there was (maybe still is) a deal on the dashboard for a year of Game Pass for $99. Not as good as the six-month cards for 30/each. Still, I renewed, and it tacked it on to my sub - hopefully it'll last into 2020. Waiting for Crackdown 3 (maybe still waiting till then).
So I've got 20 months of Gamepass, and what am I mostly playing? Letter Quest.

Dan - I checked - that option was checked already. I briefly looked for another BDLive disk to test but couldn't find one.

If BD-Live is enabled, and you have internet access, then I'd say the most likely thing is that the BD-Live server for that disc got shut down.

I couldn't agree more, however, there is a reason that places like Rent-a-Center, Aaron's Rent to Own, etc are in business. People can't afford the up front cost, or can't get a credit card. For only $95 / mo (for a year!) you can own your very own Xbox One S at Aarons...(Total Cost of Ownership: $1,139.88)

I wish you hadn't popped that up. The Fallout 76 Game is a must for me this year but I'm getting the PS4 version. I saw where they're coming out with XBox1X Fallout 76 Bundle about a week ago and that was cool...these are even better. I can only hope for a Doom Eternal or a Rage 2 XBox1X Edition at this point.....congrads to the Xbox Players on landing this these.....

Microsoft Store will also have the white Xbox One X and Elite controller. Official post from MS about them:

https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2018/08/...oto_lrn_8.29.2

I'm surprised that there hasn't been an actual successor to the Elite controller yet despite all the rumors.

No one excited that MW2 is now backwards compatible for the Xbox One? I was playing last night. I missed this game. It's still fun to me, and noob-tubers are as annoying (and as fun to be one) as ever.

BC titles get released fairly randomly now, without much fanfare. I'm not sure anyone here knew Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was made BC yesterday.

Well, they added 58 Xbox 360 titles so far this year. That's a bit over 7 a month. At that rate, it'll take about 220 months to get through the remaining 1500 games, or 18 years.

I feel like the emulator has to be pretty solid at this point, and that what's holding it back is more licensing and QA testing.

That white X1X looks really sleek. But how bad will a white controller look after a decent amount of use?

The standard Xbox One white controller was my primary for some time and it looks fine. Although... my old 360 controllers got pretty grimy and yellowish after a few years.

^ It's bound to happen since they bought Ninja Theory. Hell they may skip BC and do a fancy remake or something.

It was pretty big news on Reddit. This has to be one of the biggest games of the last generation, so I was a tiny bit surprised there wasn't more fanfare here. Prices at Gamestop have, unsurprisingly, shot up. Before the news, it was $15 on the marketplace. It's now $20.

So it's not technically the Elite Controller 2, it's just a white version of the original Elite Controller?
