Because it's not, no demo is, is it really that hard to grasp?

It says that because you bought the demo. The game itself isn't free until 8/16:
https://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/p...5-d8025451085f
The message you got is just boilerplate for any 360 purchase made on the website. Notice the "If this product is part of Xbox One Backward Compatibility..." bit.
The reason the demos aren't BC are because MS and the publishers don't want to put the work in to do so. Especially if it's for a title being given away in Games for Gold, so most people are going get it for free anyway. I think MS would rather work on getting more full titles on BC than spend any time, however minor, working on porting the demos over.
Also, they likely have numbers showing how effective these demos are at driving sales, and how often they're downloaded and played. If those numbers are small, that's another reason they wouldn't bother with BC for them.

So... even less exclusive Xbox titles this year. Other then Forza 7, it's been a pretty shitty year in that regard.
Microsoft is delaying the release of Crackdown 3 from Nov. 7, 2017 to spring 2018, the company confirmed to Polygon today.
Shannon Loftis, Microsoft Studios Publishing general manager, said the company is delaying the Xbox One and Windows PC game to give development teams Reagent Games, Sumo Digital and Cloudgine extra time to ensure a quality experience.
“We’re very excited about Crackdown 3, and so are many fans, and so it’s a difficult call to move the release date,” Loftis said in an email interview with Polygon. “However, we want to make sure to deliver the right game, with the right quality, and at the right time. Crackdown 3 is a hugely ambitious game and we want to ensure we deliver the right experiences all the way through every part of the game, whether that’s campaign, co-op multiplayer or our competitive multiplayer mode, Wrecking Zone. Getting the balance right between the three modes is important, and we are going to take the extra development time to ensure that. Gamers can expect Crackdown 3 in Spring of 2018.”

Yikes! So their big launch title for the Xbox One X is Super Lucky's Tale.
Honestly, though, I can't say I'm surprised. There really didn't seem to be any enthusiasm about what Microsoft had shown of Crackdown 3 this year, and they still hadn't shown off anything about the multiplayer. It's not as if the PS4 Pro launched with some earth-shattering first-party title either, but I do think the Xbox One X is a slightly different animal and would've benefitted greatly from a world-class exclusive.
My plan on/around launch is to revisit the campaigns for Titanfall 2 and Gears of War 4 in 4K (with a higher-res Halo 5 being a far lower priority, just because I've played through that one a couple of times already), and I'll try to treat a higher-res Forza Horizon 3 as a new game for my wife since FH3 took such a backseat to her Overwatch obsession. My birthday's a week and a half after launch, and I'm sure I'll get something new to play then too (Wolfenstein II at a minimum).

They've had a rough year. I've heard some rumors from a friend about the XB1X that hasn't been too positive either, so I'm curious to see how that plays out.

I wonder what they'll do, Crackdown 3 was essentially the "launch" game to go with the One X. A lot of people on forums seem to be hoping there will be a free game pack in.
