I wonder if they are taking a loss on this. 2tb hd and a 4k blu ray player for $299? The stand alone 4k players cost around $400 by itself.
I really think the scorpio announcement will have many users holding over until next year and they probably had to announce it to take some steam away from the ps4 neo.

The 2 Tb version isn't $299.

500 Gb HDD = $299

1 Tb HDD = $349

2 Tb HDD = $399

Yeah, the promotion was a little sneaky, stating "starting at $299" and featuring "up to 2TB" drive.

It looks like Microsoft Store is also taking pre-orders on the $399 "Launch Edition" 2TB model only:
https://www.microsoftstore.com/store..._ModA_E3_61316

I'm guessing that the cheaper options may show up later, after the launch edition sells out.

Any chance the Xbox One S comes bundled with a couple of games?

Probably for BF, but not likely when it first comes out.

The pricing makes me lean towards keeping the xbox one my wife bought for me at Best Buy this weekend.

You mean to take advantage of UHD 4K?

It's up to Vudu whether they update their app, but once UWP support on XB1 is officially released this summer, Vudu may release a new UWP app that works on XB1 as well as Windows 10 PC and Mobile.

Yes, but also... the current Vudu app on Xbox One is the worst they have on any platform. Practically unusable. The UI is still the very dated "metro" style, and a poorly implemented one at that. Every other device/platform has a nice clean Vudu app. I hope you're right that they're going to release a UWP version.

Xbox One app looks like this

^ You can't.

Right now, you can only pre-order the $399 2TB version. Sounds like pre-orders of the $299 version will be... later.

Without a 4K tv, there isn't any point in getting a UHD player, right? I'm really happy with my 3D HDTV and have no imminent desire to upgrade it.

Not unless you want to start building a collection now. But even then, you might was well wait since those movies will be cheaper in the future anyways.

I think the current Vudu app already provides the option, at least on my Vizio. I have the Vudu widget and UHD options appear next to what movies are available in 4K. I haven't bought any yet cause they can shove those ridiculous prices up their hineys.

The Netflix app works great and the PQ is pretty good as well.

Yeah, I also have a 4K Vizio TV, and the Vudu app supports 4K streams. It's only the Xbox One app that's terrible.

I haven't streamed 4K on Netflix, though. I think I have to switch my Netflix account to 4K first, right? How many titles are available in 4K?

So X-Box one has been out almost 3 years. Announce 2 more systems.

Guess I'm getting old. I wasn't hyped at all for that. For now my 1TB Halo edition will suffice.

This is pretty cool and I'd so order one if it was the pedigree of the Elite controller. I find playing most games these days is almost impossible now that I've grown accustomed to the Elite.

So should I get the slimmer version or just wait until Scorpio? I don't have a 4K TV and it doesn't look like I'll be getting one anytime soon.

Do you already have an Xbox One? If yes, can you think of any particular feature of the Slim that appeals to you enough to upgrade?
