From the home screen, use the Menu button, go to Settings, go to Kinect, and it's in there. It'll ask for your brand, and then it'll try to send a few commands and ask you if it worked or not.

Be aware that there are not a ton of choices for Brand in the first screen. I was worried that mine wouldn't work because it wasn't listed. however, there is an option to type in the brand. I did that and it attempted to mute the tv. It was able to do so and said that "Xbox now knows how to talk to your TV." Then it did the same thing for my AT&T Uverse box. I think it changed the channel or something to "know how to talk to it." My TV is an Insignia that I got a good deal on from Best Buy.

I've realized that this weekend was the first time I've never had Early Adopters Remorse. I love the system a lot. Yes, there are small niggling issues they need to work out (and very likely will), but overall. Hot damn.

I can't wait to make you assholes watch a hole in one rather than just a chip in

Pretty cool saying "xbox on" and have my xbox, AV receiver, and overhead projector all turn on at once.

That really sounds like a nice feature and makes the TV functions that much more appealing. I think my wife might have a hard time getting used to it (she's getting tired of my tinkering with the home theater at up), but if it works the majority of the time I think she'll be fine.

If they can add in input switching to the "Xbox On" sequence, I'd be all in.

At my house, the TV portion is being removed from the Xbox. The Wife Acceptance Test failed when she said something (or the kid did in her ramblings) that caused the tv to rewind, and the xbox to be up. All I heard from the other room was "xbox, go away!"

I see no reason why they can't add it. Or, at the very least, specify exactly which input is for the Xbox, so if you say "Xbox On" you don't also have to switch away from Input 2 or 3 (Roku, etc.) manually.

I'm not going to lie; there were a few moments where this sort of thing would happen to my wife. I just told her to get back in the kitchen. But seriously, she would just get kind of flustered with the voice commands when something would not go as intended. This is where "Xbox Pause" and "Xbox Mute" come in handy, at least for me.

Actually, I've been playing around with HOW I say certain things. My wife makes fun of me when I say, "Xbox, Go Home..." in a sad voice. She imagines the Xbox responding:

I made a quick video explaining how to get footage from the Xbox One to Skydrive and then eventually the internet. And I used footage from Ryse, deal with it.

And then, you can embed SkyDrive videos on forums:
(sorry if this fails miserably...)

For me, the embedded Skydrive movie is just a link that opens up the Skydrive in another window.

And it's not footage from Ryse. So double fail.

Yeah, that's what I see, too, and I posted it. Weird. I think it's because SkyDrive is using a white image as the default thumbnail for Xbox One uploads, but I have no way to change the thumbnail.

Yep. My though is that these first days are making me delay getting a PS4 even longer. In the previous generation I "needed" the PS3 mainly because of the blu-ray, then I found the games. Right now I think I'm looking to wait for a bundle with Infamous or Uncharted. So yeah, that's a long time.

My 7 years old daughter loves the voice commands. Xbox On, Xbox watch tv, Xbox watch Disney. A plus to me, it goes to the HD feed of that channel, and not the SD.

Did anyone who hooked their 360 into their XO notice any lag? I just played a little bit, but I didn't see any.

I thought there was an option in the setup that asked if you wanted it to go to the HD or SD channels? Maybe its in the settings? Not sure.. My TV goes to the HD channels when I have it change channel with a voice command.

It may be your cable provider that doesn't distinguish between the different feeds. I mean, in my case, Comcast has pretty straight naming conventions, ABC and ABCHD, ESPN and ESPNHD, etc. So if for whatever reasons your cable provider decided to call them ABC and ABC2, it will be hard for the X1 to make the distinction. Or something like that.

Really unhappy with the party chat system so far. Rarely am I able to get it to work.

I don't understand how they managed to fuck up a system they had working so well for so long with the 360.
