Yep, this is/was by far my favorite of the 'launch' games. I suspect some found it too easy, since it's one of the few games I actually finished - but it was just the right level for me - challenging without being frustrating.

I have a $50 credit in my Xbox Live account, so I'm temped to shell out $10 to buy Ryse... but I want to wait for a price drop or something. Something just so I can say, "See! Buying digitally is TOTALLY paying off for me." -sigh-

This is one of the reasons I call bullshit on so many people moaning over lack of 60 fps. You don't need 60 fps in most cases.

I still argue that Ryse had terrible animation, but that had more to do with how it was made, not the framerate (which averaged out to about 28 fps). Backgrounds were damn nice though.

First-ever weekly sale on XB1 is going on!

So what if it's only 25% off Powerstar Golf?

The game is also getting a title update tomorrow:

• New Gear - 50 (yes, 50) brand-new pieces of gear for you to equip.
• Increased credits payouts - We’ve boosted the amount of credits you’ll earn in several places.
• New Rival notifications – Ever wonder if your friends have been decimating your scores? We’ve made it easier for you to get back in the action, and repay the favor, even faster.
• Of course there’s more – New camera angles, improved animations, and general bug fixes.

Nice. it's time i fired that one up again. It's going to suck to be Music though, with all the notifications of how badly he's being decimated.

It's been 39.99 before and is right now ~45 bucks (and fluctuating) at amazon. Oh wait, digital, yeah...

A few people on the Xbox.com forums say it has been fixed, and a smattering of others say it hasn't. It's such an intermittent problem, and the update really hasn't been available that long, that I don't think there'll be a clear answer for just a little while longer.

But if you had the problem and it's noticeable, it's pretty persistent. Did they say what the fix included?

For me, the problem wasn't always apparent at the beginning of the movie (although it was sometimes), and it'd get worse over time. It also didn't seem to happen with every movie I tried. It's not the sort of thing I could pop in a disc and definitively tell if it did the trick within a couple of minutes. The crowd that had been most vocal about the problem hasn't said much since last night's update, so I dunno.

There aren't any update notes that I've found. When I did the update, the only thing it told me was the file size.

I downloaded the update yesterday, and right when I started the app up again it said you could press the xbox button to see what the update was... however, I was using a remote that had no xbox button, and the notification went away. Also didn't bother to re-enable 24htz, but I'll try it tonight.

I still don't see how they can do something like a permanent, significant drop in digital prices and not royally tick off the Walmarts and Targets and Best Buys and Amazons of the world. Five or so bucks off, fine, I can even see pricematching (though even that may make stores upset), but new releases significantly cheaper on day of release?

I realize Nintendo did this for stuff like Luigi, and even delayed the physical copy. And I realize Major Nelson's not committing to anything yet, I just know that that's what people want/expect.

Stores will stock less. Maybe publishers will give them extra materials to help push the physical copies.

The quote in question is about price parity-ish between digital / retail, so I don't think it's necessarily about undercutting retailers so much as not being priced above them. I mean, it's not about being "rewarded" for buying digitally; it's about not being "punished".

This is exactly it for me. I can accept if digital prices are generally equal to retail, because instead of paying for the entire manufacturing process, I'm paying for the convenience of not having to swap discs or leave the house for midnight releases (among other reasons for going digital). I just hate seeing retail prices drop $10 or $20 while digital remains at full MSRP. Like you said, I have no expectation of being rewarded, but I just don't want to feel like I'm being punished for it.
Throw us digital-only suckers a bone...

If you have Amazon Prime most games have free release-day delivery. No need to go out of your home, unless you need to play it at midnight. I still think digital should be cheaper in general than the physical discs.
