So my niece wants an Xbox to take to college. Any rumors about any upcoming sales or price breaks?

There might be a sale in a few weeks during E3. Other than that, just sign up for an alert on Slickdeals.

Apparently the PUBG bundle is 50% off clearance at Target. Doubt you could still find one though

So if I have decent WiFi, would hard wired connection always be the best? I have hard wired, but slow speed sometimes and sometimes can’t stream movie bc bandwidth error. Too low or something...

Hard wired will always be the best as you’re directly connected. If you have transitioned to a ‘Mesh System’, though, you’re connection will be as good as it gets, as you do not degrade the speed of your WiFi even when you’re not close to your router.

I played a bit of Portal: Still Alive yesterday, and the framerate was all over the place on my Xbox One X. I don't recall it being that bad on the 360...

The 360 version was about 30fps with some dips into high 20s according to this video:
https://www.eurogamer.net/videos/hal...s3-performance

You can see someone else playing it on the XB1X at the 38:18 mark on this video:

So if I have a physical disc and played some of the game (Borderlands 2) and then get the digital copy via a code on Xbox store, will I still have that saved game and start where I left off when playing digital?

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate conversion web page is up, allowing you to merge your current Xbox Gold + Xbox Game Pass subscriptions for $1.

The best math posted by easper showing the conversion is: months of Gold remaining + months of Game Pass remaining + 1 month of Ultimate for $1
So if you have 12 months of Gold, 3 months of Game Pass for $1 you would get 16 months of Ultimate.

Evidently the max Ultimate is 3 years, so it's recommended to purchase up to that level before you do the $1 deal. (example: have 2 years of Gold + 1 Year of Game Pass or 3 years of Gold, etc.)

The caveat is that there is some questions if you could revert back to Gold only/Game Pass only (from the FAQ: You can cancel your Ultimate membership at any time, and you will continue to have access to your Ultimate benefits until your prepaid time ends, at which point you will not be charged again. The upgrade of any prepaid time cannot be reverted back to Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass.). So evidently once you become an Ultimate user, you would always renew at Ultimate rates.

BL2 DLC announced. Can play for free immediately, but you have to have the Handsome Collection to play it.

It shows up as downloadable content in Borderlands 2, but when you press A to download it goes to the store and errors out. I don't know if the store is getting hammered right now or what.

edit: I was able to find in on the website, and added it that way. Borderlands 2: Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary 5.24GB.

Just FYI: to access mission, don’t go into downloadable content. Have to fast travel there.

Re: Xbox One: S $249 Now / X $499 November 7 2017

Posted in the "deals" thread, but worth noting here... that Game Pass Ultimate deal is excellent, especially if you have 2+ years of Gold banked already. I went from 20 months remaining of Gold & 1 month remaining of Game Pass to 36 months of Game Pass Ultimate for about $65 (after tax) by upgrading my Gold for 14 extra months before switching to Ultimate. Cost will vary for anyone with different membership time remaining. The best deal is if you already have 34 to 36 months between the two existing memberships. If you're over 36 months, you might be better waiting (for a little while) because any months over 36 will be cut off entirely.

180 bucks for the elite controller 2? And it has an internal battery I can't easily change out? Announced in the same conference where they announced a new console? Yeah, I know it's not for me anyway, but I'm out.

You would think the company being outsold 2:1 would be more aggressive with pricing. But hey, you can save $5 whole dollars on a custom controller this week.

FWIW, Microsoft did confirm today that the Elite 2 is compatible with Scarlett. (Actually, all accessories are forward-compatible.)
