It's interesting because, going forward, I thought the Kinect would work well as a supplement to a VR experience on the XB1, helping with room movement, but it looks like MS has abandoned VR as well.

I read someone else mentioning that Amazon/Alexa and Google/Home have sort of succeeded as a voice-controlled hub where Kinect/Cortana failed. Do we think MS will put Cortana into any standalone voice/speaker system to compete?

It'd be interesting to see the differences between the 360 BC version and the MCC version on the XB1X.

Has anyone played any of the BC original Xbox games on their XB1 yet? Any impressions?

really, wow? there was maybe a little more fine detail, but didn't seem like too much of a difference to me...

It's basically a resolution bump, but even that is impressive for an emulated title.

Someone compared it to the MCC version on a regular XB1, and the results are about on par:



The MCC is supposed to get an eventual XBX1 enhancement as well, which might make that the superior version, at least graphically:

I agree... I didn't see it. I still have my X1X on pre-order but that sure wouldn't have made me decide FOR the system if I was on the fence.

I installed and booted up Knights of the Old Republic yesterday. Seeing the original Xbox bootscreen was pretty awesome, and the game itself looked and ran fine. It required a full download/install, around 4.5GB.

A code name, yes, although the first run of preorders for the X are “Project Scorpio Editions”.

Installed BLACK & BLOODRAYNE 2, played a couple of minutes of both. They looked/played great. Loving the tiles for the games, looks cool with the black (xbox system) left side border.

since when and why do you need to update a controller? i got my very first notice to update the professional controller. how did it know i had that anyway? but, what is this and what does it actually do?

It... updates the controller. And it knows what controller you have because the controller tells it what it is when it connects to it.

They've released updates before. One of the big ones enabled 3.5mm headsets:

I think the original Xbox One controller needed to be plugged in via USB to receive an update, and the XB1 never notified you that one was available (possibly because the original controllers didn't pass back firmware version numbers to the console wirelessly, so it had no idea what version firmware the controller was unless it was plugged in)
