It works a very similar way, just not called a Library. In the Games tab you have a list of all your downloaded games, then in the far right you have a separate listing of games ready to download. When you delete a game, it goes from the Games collection to the Ready To Download tab.

Both are way better solutions than the 360 and the PS3 where you can totally lose track of what you already own digitally.

Digital hoarding is an oxymoron. It's not like games need physical space.

Do they not take up space on the hard drive hence the complaining about hard drive size?

Yeah, hard drives are a physical product. Sure hard drives may be small physically, but many "hoarders" may have multiple hard drives which does add up in physical space. Also, the servers where all this data is stored is going to be very big both digitally and physically.

Castle Crashers Remastered is now up for Xbox One and free to purchase (this week) for those who bought the 360 XBLA game.

edit : Doesn't look like it's giving the free price yet. Will have to wait a bit.

External hard drives are relatively small. Even if you have a lot of them, you'd have to try really hard to use up a lot of space to make your living space unlivable. And just because people have come up with the phrase "digital hoarding" on Wikipedia or on the internet doesn't mean it has a lot of validity, certainly not when it comes to gaming. Having a bunch of clutter on a PC with no organization, i.e. various files on your desktop and not creating folders, and no more hard drive space, sure, but how does that even apply to a gaming device that automatically organizes your games, apps, etc in folders? It's not hoarding, it's archiving.

I don't see how digital hoarding is an oxymoron, but I don't see hoarding as requiring a physical product or what organization has to do with it. I always thought of it as just an extreme act of collecting.

That's cute, but again the definition or condition of hoarding has nothing to do with how neatly organized something is. Unless you watched one of those hoarders shows and think that's all it entails.

It's just about extreme collecting and not wanting to get rid of things, which can certainly apply to digital items.

But it's not extreme collecting like you suggested in your previous post. Is Jay Leno a hoarder because he collects an obscene amount of cars? Are billionaires hoarders of money? By your definition, having excessive amount of anything is hoarding, and to me takes away the meaning of the word entirely.

You're right, the latter part that I didn't include originally but should have was the reluctance to get rid of items as well, which I mentioned in my last post.

Either way, I still don't see how digital hoarding is an oxymoron. The terms don't contradict each other at all.

Hoarding disorder is a persistent difficulty discarding or parting with possessions because of a perceived need to save them. A person with hoarding disorder experiences distress at the thought of getting rid of the items. Excessive accumulation of items, regardless of actual value, occurs.

How would you discard a title you own on a service like Comixology or VUDU, though? You could detach it from your account, I guess, but there'd be no reason to.

Spoken like a true digital hoarder. It's not your fault, it's a disease.

Because even if you get rid of something digitally, it's not like you are gaining anything except space where something else can replace it. That's what a hard drive is for. Sure, collecting so many drives because you want to download the Internet sounds like a problem, but who has the time or resources to do that?

We'll have to keep an eye on the Wikipedia entry for "digital hoarding" to be sure!

I don't see what you're getting at or why it matters. The point is there are people that like to collect/store/save various digital files of all sorts and don't like to delete it ever even if they'll never open them again, hence the hoarding term. I still don't see the contradiction unless you have a different definition of hoarding then I do

I assume this came up in the context of hard drive sizes in consoles and that there are people that don't want to delete games even though they don't play them despite being able to redownload them at any time. The term hoarding seems appropriate in that regard to me.

If you still have Undertow on your hard drive or Sneak King in your collection...you might need to check into the "Landlord's" thread in otter.

I agree on most of your points really, except for the fact that there's no guarantee you will ALWAYS be able to redownload a game. That's where I have a problem with assuming I could always just redownload it; I don't buy that guarantee.

I sure wish I hadn't relied on being able to redownload P.T.

I still have it, not to rub it in. Wonder if there's a way to make a copy (legally; don't want to piss off mods).
