Press Release Hyperdimension Neptunia: Producing Perfection

Santa Ana, Calif. (October 23, 2013) NIS America is proud to announce the acquisition of Hyperdimension Neptunia PP (working title) for the PlayStationŽVita system for both North American and European markets in 2014. This title has a planned release for both retail and PSN formats. Developed by IDEA FACTORY and COMPILE HEART, the fan-favorite Hyperdimension Neptunia CPU goddesses are back, and this time it is your job to guide them to become Gamindustri’s most popular and up-and-coming idols!

About the game:

The player takes on the role of the main character, who happens to fall into Gamindustri and is immediately hired by one of the four CPUs—Neptune, Noire, Blanc, and Vert—to be their producer and manage their idol careers. Get your training wheels on, ladies, because a new producer is in town and the fate of Gamindustri hangs in the balance! Will you be able to properly raise these CPUs into idols, or will their citizens be stolen away from them by the popular idol group MOB-48!? Teach these girls to sing, dance, and properly promote themselves to the general populace thanks in part to your expertise in training video game idols back on Earth. As the girls’ popularity rises, they will be able to join one another in singing duets, or maybe even come together for a full ensemble!

Its better then a video game about killing people like "Assassin's Creed" or some other crime like "Grand Theft Auto", just to name two of the biggest game titles.

Which of course are the only two games we play here.

Perhaps instead of just bombarding us with press releases and videos that any of us could find on the web, you tell us why you're excited for this game, what you do and don't like about it, why we should consider plunking down some of our hard earned cash and spend some of our limited time playing it.

Just a thought.

I don't like that "Hyperdimension Neptunia: Producing Perfection" is only being released on the PS Vita and not on PS3.
I bought my PS Vita for this game and "Hyperdimentional Neptunia re;birth1" If it wasn't for the Hyperdimension Neptunia series I wouldn't even own a PS3.

Quoting this because, well, just because this is how discussions are done. Not by posting pictures and videos that you've potentially fapped to countless times.

I can't really answer that because I am new to playing video games and have nothing to compare it to.

As for everyone else at least I know now why non main stream games are not talked about here, everyone gets chased away. I will never make that mistake again and start threads in the video game forum.

Re: Hyperdimension Neptunia

Nobody is chasing you anywhere. You still haven't answered Supermallet's question. This is a discussion forum and we all like different games. Why is this one special to warrant 10 sequels? Why is it worth buying a PS3 for? Pictures, vids and press releases are a good start but share your own thoughts about the game and why we should care.

Supermallet 04-06-14 03:27 PM

Re: Hyperdimension Neptunia

Sorry that we expect you to engage in actual conversation. We talk about all different kinds of games here without a problem, so I highly doubt we're chasing anyone away.

Is this how the Anime forum works? Everyone just posts data dumps and nobody discusses it?

The issue isn't whether the game is "mainstream" or not...there are some serious questions about the content of these games. And I find it very telling that you haven't even attempted to correct any of the assumptions being made here.

I was curious enough to look into this series. It seems it's only notable for two things. First, it parodies the console wars with four factions meant to represent Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft and Sega, supposedly with a fair amount of in-jokes and references. Second, it lets you put custom skins on the characters, which seems to be popular for making all the pubescent girls naked. If you're new to gaming, the first doesn't seem like it would hold much appeal to you. So, is your above argument that games that let you ogle nude renderings of underage girls are morally superior to games that let you virtually commit other crimes?

mhg83 04-07-14 12:29 PM

Re: Hyperdimension Neptunia

i checked out some videos and all the females were overly sized breasts. How does that make them underage?

a) It's Japan
b) Look at the original videos, most ofthe girls are definitely drawn without the assets you describe.

Never played the original PS3 games, since I heard the first was super repetitive and there's a ton of JRPGs that I still haven't gone through. I'm intrigued by the Vita version (though I don't need earbuds and whatnot). So what the difference between the original version and the new Vita one? Did they at least eliminate some of the grinding?

Re: Hyperdimension Neptunia

Most of the official releases for these type of games are PG-13, they are not X-rated as most seem to be implying here. Think Pokemon with cute girls in place of imaginary animals.

This is how the game industry has evolved in Japan, playing off trends in anime.

fujishig 04-07-14 03:11 PM

Re: Hyperdimension Neptunia

Well, to be fair there are a lot of creepy Japanese games, and with the character designs and whatnot it's easy to make assumptions. Take a look at the descriptions for Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars (which is also on the 3DS, and Nintendo is very careful about licensing) or Akiba's Trip: Undead and Undressed.

But hey, it's not like American games and media have their own stigmas or anything.

To be fair, you weren't talking about the game, either. Just posting video after video with no context tells me nothing about why you are so excited about it.

Assassin's Creed, and Grand Theft Auto are both rated "Mature" while Hyperdimension Neptunia™: Producing Perfection it rated "Teen". Hyperdimension Neptunia MK2 is the only one rated "Mature" but the worst part of it is in the trailer I posted.

All of this talk and I still know nothing about what the game is, other than that it involves "grinding" and it's like "Pokemon with big breasted girls instead of cute little animals". And while I know what grinding means in relation to RPGs, the latter description is really creepy.

And what's wrong with a game rated mature? That's like saying all PG-13 rated movies are better than all rated R movies.

And suddenly I notice the OP's name is chrisc....

I think it's a pretty basic JRPG; a nominal story, turn based battles, action points, etc, with the hook, as someone else said, that the girls in the party are all representative of some kind of game system, and the enemy is some kind of pirated gaming system. You can also summon things and can change the pictures of what you summon with pictures on the PS3/vita. There's also an anime out there, which I assume is where chrisc got interested.

No matter what anyone says you would find something to complain about, If the images and trailers looked interesting you would have watched Youtube videos of gameplay or something similar by now. You and half the others don't give a damn about this game and finding anything to say against it, That's why I left before and its not worth my time posting anymore.

Supermallet 04-07-14 08:52 PM

Re: Hyperdimension Neptunia

No one said anything in this thread before. The fact is that you're not engaging in discussion. You're posting press releases and videos (which makes you look like a shill), and when people ask for a conversation you don't mention the merits of these games at all. Instead you attack other totally unrelated games.

Stop acting like we came here looking to gang up on you. Act like a member of the community and you'll be treated as such.

Re: Hyperdimension Neptunia

I'm actually interested in this game now. Chris, If you'd just explain from the first post the concept of the game, I would've checked it out. The trailers you posted don't really do a good job of showing what the game is about.

That is my understanding of these games. Take a lighter version of the Final Fantasy series and have it all revolve around anime girls. This is not rocket science, people.
