Game of the Year - 2013
Spike TV is having there video game award show on Dec. 7th. I've only played Bioshock, Tomb Raider and The Last of Us. From those I'm going with Tomb Raider but Bioshock was a very close second.
From these 5, what is your game of the year. |
Re: Game of the Year - 2013
I can't take that list seriously when Super Mario 3-D world hasn't even been released!
|
Re: Game of the Year - 2013
Yeah, a bit premature. I was thinking about starting one of these in December, with a few more options than the ones given. I mean how can you not include Ryse?

Re: Game of the Year - 2013
I voted Tomb Raider. While GTA V was great and a technical marvel for current gen systems, I just had more fun with TR. It revived the franchised and improved upon Uncharted in almost every aspect.
|
Re: Game of the Year - 2013
Unless Super Mario 3D World completely reinvents the Mario formula, it's Tomb Raider.
|
Re: Game of the Year - 2013
Tomb Raider. Uncharted 2 is one of my favorite games this gen and Tomb Raider has a lot of similarities. Sure, the story and characters have nothing on Uncharted 2, but the gameplay was way more fun.

Re: Game of the Year - 2013
Can't believe I was the first to vote Last of Us.
|
Re: Game of the Year - 2013
GTA V easy. Tomb Raider was great but I never finished it and it kind of got stale toward the end. Same with the Last of Us.
|
Re: Game of the Year - 2013
The Last of Us was overrated. GTA V was fun but in the end it was just another GTA game.
|
Re: Game of the Year - 2013
Judging by the traffic around here, I think GOTY is Tapped Out.
|
Re: Game of the Year - 2013
I feel like I know what GTA and Mario are all about despite not having played them.
Tomb Raider was phenomenal, but I thought The Last of Us transcended what most games even try to do in terms of storytelling and visuals, and even the gameplay was more varied than Tomb Raider with more stealth and light crafting to go with the shooting. I need to play Bioshock, but that's probably not going to happen any time soon. Voted for The Last of Us. |
Re: Game of the Year - 2013
It KILLS me to vote against Tomb Raider, but GTA V is the game of the year.
|
Re: Game of the Year - 2013
The Last of Us for me, with Bioshock Infinite a close second. I had great fun with both GTA V and Tomb Raider, but neither of them offered anything particularly new or noteworthy besides the gameplay itself. The Last of Us haunted me for weeks after I experienced it, like any other great work of art.
|
Re: Game of the Year - 2013
Last of Us and Tomb Raider were great. GTA5 was fun and technically amazing. But Bioshock Infinite is the only one that captivated me enough to play night after night until it was over. So, Bioshock.

Re: Game of the Year - 2013
Poll doesn't include Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon, so I didn't vote.
|
Re: Game of the Year - 2013
The Last of Us for me.
|
Re: Game of the Year - 2013
GTA V just off the detailed world alone that R* created
|
Re: Game of the Year - 2013
I've played Bioshock Infinite, Last of Us, Tomb Raider, and GTAV, and out of those my vote goes to Bioshock. It just resonated with me the most, from the excellent world created and a fantastic story and ending. Although Tomb Raider was the most fun, GTAV was the most technically impressive, and Last of Us had the best character development, with me rating all those games in the order mentioned. I wish I liked Last of Us more, but the gameplay was just boring for me for half the game and made for inconsistent moments versus the interesting story.

Re: Game of the Year - 2013
Haven't played any of those games in the poll so my vote goes to Deadpool

The Last of Us just didn't resonate with me because of all the stealth. Bioshock Infinite would be prime GOTY Contender...in 2008. Haven't played GTA, but I'm pretty sure I know what it's all about. Like both Galaxy games, I have no doubt Mario 3D is a contender but so far (out of this list of games) Tomb Raider my pick. The plot and secondary characters were lacking, but the gameplay was where it was at, and that meant for every minute I spent in the world I was having fun. As far a "close second," I'd put Pikmin, Rayman or Resogun up there before any of the others in the poll. |
Re: Game of the Year - 2013
Hmmm. Tomb Raider, Last of Us and Bioshock were all great for different reasons. If I had to absolutely pick one, I'd say Last of Us slightly edges Bioshock based on the story. Hard to believe I picked a Playstation game as game of the year, since I'm such a Microsoft homer, I know.

The Last of Us - hands down. It's one of the few games that actually made me play my PS3.
Also, GTA V is so deep and technically capable it's amazing. I can only imagine what they'll pull off on this newest gen of consoles; but kudos to R*. |

The Last of Us just didn't resonate with me because of all the stealth. Bioshock Infinite would be prime GOTY Contender...in 2008. I would argue that Last of Us had both more interesting storytelling and more interesting gameplay as well. I'm NOT generally a stealth guy, but I thought the way it was implemented in Last of Us was more like Arkham than it was like Metal Gear (a good thing), and it provided for optional approaches and variety. I also thought the scavenging and crafting system was interesting. |
