Nice! But where does it say it's a 20% off code?

Mine says:
REWARD
MLB The Show 18 Standard Pack

There are four Quests listed. You did the first one. Coupon is in the last one as I mentioned above.

Thanks, bought Monster Hunter World with the coupon.

It seems like it only works with games that have already been released. It won't work on Pre-Orders.

Well I just did the quest part and at the end at first it makes you think the 20% off is just for The Show but then you see it state..."20% off one transaction made at PlayStation Store"....and you get a code...

New PSN update bricked my console again, had to boot in safe mode and restore. This is starting to get annoying.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

We’re considering a PS4 for some exclusive titles and such, is there any whispering of the PS5 coming up?

Or do you think we could get a Pro and they’ll do the thing like Xbox where the software is compatible?

PS4 Pro is almost the same idea as a Xbox One X. Both are just more powerful current generation systems capable of some 4K gaming.

PS5 is still a ways off

I'd wager that the earliest we might get a PS5 would be the fall of 2020. That still could be a little too optimistic.

I don't think you can tell with Sony on whether they'll have backwards compatibility across generations. They've been all over the place with that support.

Yeah, both PS4 Pro and XB1X were "mid-generation" upgrades that are backwards compatible. The PS4 Pro just came out earlier and is a bit cheaper, so is overall less powerful.

Yeah, the PS4 Pro came out in 2017, 3 years after the PS4, so having the PS5 come out 3 years after the PS4 Pro gives that console a good lifetime before replacement. Or Sony may wait an extra year to try and release the same time the next Xbox does.

The consensus is that Sony and MS are most likely going to stick with AMD APUs instead of changing architectures again, so backwards compatibility is likely. Whether there will be forwards compatibility (a PS5 game is also playable on a PS4 and/or PS4 Pro) is another consideration.

Both of the mid-gen upgrades didn't upgrade the CPU much, just mainly the GPU. This made compatibility easier, but meant that games can basically only do improved graphics on them, not more advanced AI for NPCs, or just more NPCs, more complex game design, etc.

With the PS5, there's likely going to be improved CPU performance, which means a game designed for the PS5 may not necessarily work on a PS4/Pro. Now, early PS5 games at least are likely to have a separate PS4/Pro version, but it's not clear if they could pack all 3 version times into one disc/download. Sony could also mitigate this a bit with cross-buy of PS4/PS5 titles, meaning you get both versions if you buy a copy digitally.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

The current system is going on 4.5yrs...Fixed old but frankly...to me...still has a lot of life in it with plenty of games to choose from....

...but that said the so-called "7yr itch" might again pop up around early 2020...PS4 was announced Feb 2013 and came in in November same year...

...but who knows the "What, Where, When & Hows" at this point. As with any console it's a Performance Price Cost Ratio that will be in effect. Second part of the equation is the Games themselves especially when it comes to the tools, software, capability aspects between consoles and costs which we've seen slowly balloon with each year.

I'm sure there will be a huge support and draw for the "PS5"...but I also think given the current PS4 is doing just fine and the majority out there are satisfied with the "Eye Candy"it is producing. The part I see...and sort of bothers me is...it's starting to creep in that same phase as it was with PC Gaming. At first it was almost everyone with any hardware could play but slowly the demand for more "Eye Candy" started to separate the casual average gamer with the hardcore have to have the latest & greatest where $$$$ became an issue. Video Cards became the latest rage with prices costing as much as PC's...and not everyone like myself could or wanted to keep up. I hope we are not heading into a "Upper & Lower End Console" area......

It's about 4.5 years old. The PS4 was released November 15, 2013. 4.5 years would be May 2018. 5.5 years would be May 2019. 7 years would be November 2020.

Wonder if Sony would release an updated version of the Pro with better hardware to put it back at par with the X? Especially if they start to lose market share. MS couldn’t say they have the best performing console anymore. And Sony clearly has the edge in exclusive games.

Even sticking with AMD and x86 architecture, I personally wouldn't assume that it's likely with Sony. Not saying it won't or wouldn't happen as I certainly hope it would for both companies moving forward, but i'm less convinced with Sony then I am Microsoft.

I'd be really surprised if they did. The X is more powerful, but Sony's still outselling Microsoft according to the last month's NPD sales information so it certainly doesn't seem like they're hurting.

I feel like a second revision would run the risk of alienating/annoying their target audience rather than giving them what they want.

Doubt it. Most people probably don't even understand 4K and HDR. When we start talking about native resolution, it goes over the heads of most consumers. It would be a marketing nightmare for Sony.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

So there is one specifically for Far Cry 5?....and another for 20% off with expiration of April 30th?

...I am thinking of getting FC5 now after watching some videos.....I loved FC4 and it was a blast & hoot to ride a elephant tossing the bad guys around like rag-dolls. But getting a pet 600lb Grizzly named "Cheeseburger"....oh yea......

Thanks for the heads up. This code will likely be gone at 12AM ET so better watch the video and claim it quickly today
