re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

I'm not sure if it was specific to the Pro or just the new DS4, but I remember seeing something about using the new controller with the usb cable connected to the console to decrease input lag or whatever. Is it just a matter of plugging it in with the cable or do you actually need to change something in the systems settings to override the Bluetooth connection?

It isn't very different, it feels a little sturdier, the grips feel a little different (better) and you can see the color of the light bar through a small bar of light on the touch pad. Otherwise, many people would be hard pressed to tell a difference.

Also it allows you to play via USB -- previously when you played with a USB cable it was still controlling via Bluetooth, now it'll control via USB to eliminate any and all lag.

They also sell these in a combo kit w/ wireless dongle for PC use, they were $39.99 (Controller + Dongle) a week or so ago at best buy.

I posted in here a couple weeks ago that I had gotten one. When people were talking about Black Friday sales on PS4 controllers I said make sure you get one of the new models.

The rubber on both my thumb-sticks have torn off, so just that would be an improvement. Also, as I had stated earlier, my DS4's battery doesn't hold a charge for much longer than 2 hours, so it's definitely time for a new one.

Is there something on the packaging denoting a new model, or are they all like that now?

The new model number is CUHZCT2. It'll say that on the package. But otherwise the packaging looks the same.

I read that it has a slightly better battery life as well, any truth to that?

I find it does hold a longer charge. Not a whole lot longer, but it is an improvement.

I believe the new iteration comes with both the Slim and the Pro.

There is a setting that needs to be changed from Bluetooth to USB.

Do yourself a favor and pick up Stories: The Path of Destinies free this month. Easily one of the most charming little games I have played this year.

Since we only have a few days left before the price goes up, I went ahead and ordered through Best Buy. I'm starting to have the feeling that they might try to bump the retail release to $40. Left Behind came out at $30, and if this is bigger than that was, they might ask more for it.

Well shit. I went looking for those newer DS4s, and it looked like all they had were the older models. And they had TONS! The ones on the floor didn't have that light at the top of the sensor bar. Not sure how else to tell. What's been your experience of finding one?

Left Behind was $14.99 at launch not $30.

I got mine from amazon but they had them at both game stops I've been to this month. I think gamestop is the only store who has them in colors other than black currently. You'll probably have to ask for them because they'll want to get rid of their old ones first so those will be out on the rack.

Yep, I just saw that. Was there some type of bundle with maps or something? I could have sworn that I paid more than $15 for that.

There was a season pass with multi-player maps.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Well, I had a moment's panic when I discovered that I had no game saves in the Online Cloud storage for either Destiny or The Division to download back onto my new console. Thought I'd have to start both games back over from naught. Checking the internet though, it appears that everything is stored on their servers and not locally. Whew.

Wow...that is a scare...

...does game data automatically back up or do you need to initialize it; I cannot remember and was looking at this morning. I was even thinking of doing something to a thumb drive. Last thing I want is a crash and losing everything not know if, when and where.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

It was a huge scare, but the Division and Destiny have that syncing thing they do with their servers to keep you from farming and cloning rare gear like you can do in Borderlands. I just never realized there isn't any sort of a local game save -- there is one in Diablo III and Overwatch, fwiw.

Regarding auto-uploads, they should be enabled automatically. It is a setting to enable or disable under Settings> Application Saved Data Management > +Auto Upload.
With the increased storage to 10 GB, everyone should be fine. The one thing I would do is scroll to your game saves from over a year ago. Until the online storage capacity was increased, you could have easily had game saves that didn't upload. I know once after the capacity was increased, I went through and uploaded a bunch of old game saves (thankfully), but I still lost several that I hadn't bothered to manually upload at that point.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Check your email, folks! The PlayStation Store has sent some "valued PlayStation Store" shoppers a 20% discount code. Expires December 19th, 2016 at 11:59 p.m.

Look for, "see what's new this week" in your email's inbox. I received the email yesterday morning. The lucky shoppers all get different codes and it can only be used once.

Fine print below:

Spoiler:
Receive 20% off one transaction made on PlayStation Store on PS3, PS4 or the online store (store.playstation.com ). Does not apply to transactions made on PlayStation Store on PS Vita, PlayStation TV, PSP or in-game. Some exclusions apply, including but not limited to PS Plus memberships, subscriptions, game pre-orders, PS Now content, Spotify subscription on PlayStation Music, and rental video content. Code must be redeemed at checkout and discounted transaction completed before 11:59 PM PT on December 19th, 2016. Code is not redeemable for cash, cannot be returned for cash or credit, may not be used for any other purpose, and will not be replaced if lost, stolen, or damaged.

Edit: A cool thing is that it's 20% off each item in your cart, not overall.

Maybe I'm missing something, but what's the difference? 20% off of each item or 20% off the total should be the same discount.
