Hmm... the D-pad on the pro-controller looks suspect.

So those are just licensed by Sony, not officially made by Sony like the DS4, correct?

Yep. If Sony made them they'd be wireless.

Just like the awful PS4 remote, which is Sony-licensed but not Sony-made, yeah.

Yeah, if Sony made them, they wouldn't need to be "licensed".

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Has anyone else had issues with charging the Move controllers? Mine only seem to want to charge if I plug them into my PS4 or Xbox One. If I use any of my various wall-to-USB chargers (from tablets, phones, etc.) then they just don't charge at all.

I'm probably going to buy that PSVR stand that charges the Move controllers and Dualshocks to make it all easier, but I'm just curious if I'm the only one with this problem.

The controllers don't charge when plugged into some regular Chargers either. Something with the voltage. I've used a charging base since the early days of Move. It works great.

I've seen this one at Target a couple times and want to pick it up, but don't really want to spend $50 right now. I might put it on a Xmas list.

Spoiler:

This one is $15 cheaper, but not officially licensed by Sony like the other one

Yeah, that second one is the one I was planning to get, but didn't really clue-in to the fact that it's not officially licensed. Might pay for the first one in that case... but I agree that $50 is a bit much. Thanks guys.

See, that's what's weird. I've typically charged my dualshock 4 using the same wall chargers I tried to use for the Move controllers. Never had a problem with the DS4 charging, though.

Anyone picking up the Pro today? You can grab it at Target for $340 + tax by using the Wishlist app and RedCard. If I had a place for my launch PS4, I would probably grab one.

The gamer in me wants to pick one up but I don't think there would be any reason to. I don't have a 4K TV...what else does it offer over the standard? I haven't read too much about it.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

I'm sticking with my regular PS4, don't really see a need for the Pro yet here. Especially since I use my XBox One more.

Now if I get a 4KTV and more PSVR stuff actually appeals to me, I'd probably jump on it.

Yeah, I am picking up the Pro today. I got a 4k set a few months ago and it has HDR. I know it won't be an upgrade for most games right. You get a copy of Sausage Party in either 4k plus blu ray or regular blu ray when getting it from Best Buy.

Mine is being delivered from Amazon today. Putting the 2TB in that bad boy as soon as it gets here.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

We are just a couple of days shy of the PS4's third birthday. I mention this because I just realized it and I had purchased a three year extended warranty in that first month. I've been having a lot of connectivity issues with my launch console. I called up the warranty number and they said since my warranty was going to expire in a few days anyways, they are setting up a case for me and are sending me a prepaid label and "coffin" for my console. They will probably just swap out my wifi system in the console and hopefully make it work better. I always agonized over buying an extended warranty, but if they fix up my console at the three year mark, I'd say that alone is worth the $50 I spent on it.

Yep...that is worth it. How long for a turn around or did they say? I got mine at launch also and so far nothing.....yet. The only thing I might consider is getting a 2TB drive to replace the 1TB drive I got to replace the 500gig drive....I don't see a need to get the 4K PS4 Pro at this moment; unless some special offer pops up from Sony via Gamestop, Best Buy, etc...on a Trade Up Program.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Just got back from some deep sea fishing...so my Pro was waiting for me when I got home yesterday.

After getting some things hooked up.... some thoughts. All games played on a 4k tv....

Uncharted 4. This was my first test, and honestly I was a little disappointed. I really did not see a dramatic change from the original game. I guess it is 1400p now.

Mafia 3. Holy shit what an improvement. The Pro version, while not the best looking modern game, actually looks like a modern game finally. Mafia 3 is a soft, murky mess of a game with some of the background looking last gen. With the Pro patch it is actually a great looking game.

Deus Ex. Now we are talking. This is stunning. If this is what 4k checkerboard looks like, sign me up. I can not believe the improvement. Watching videos comparing the difference is not the same as seeing it first hand.

So far I am impressed with what I am seeing.

The SSD load times for Bloodborne on the Pro are crazy, literally dropping some from 40s+ to 7 seconds or less.

Shiiiiiiiiiiit...
This is ONLY on the Pro, right? SSD in the standard PS4 doesn't have the same impact?

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

I heard the PS4 Pro has SATA3 ports (opposed to SATA2 on the regular PS4 and XBox One) which should speed things up quite a bit with an SSD.

The PS4 Pro has a SATA 3 port for the HDD/SSD, compared to SATA 2 for the PS4, so it's capable of much faster speeds.

This article covers the new Bloodborne load times:
http://gearnuke.com/first-ps4-pro-ss...es-bloodborne/

In comparison, he's the HDD vs SSD Bloodborne load times from a year ago:
https://www.reddit.com/r/bloodborne/...sd_load_times/

As the first article notes, Bloodborne load time improved a bit with subsequent patches, but SATA 2 is a chokepoint on the original PS4, and I think the Slim as well.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Quick question. I've installed a 2TB drive into my PS4 (original).

Can I just pop that into a new PS4 Pro, taking the place of it's hard-drive and be good to go?
