"heavy traffic"...that explains the stop motion feel of playing Last of Us Factions last night.

One year later; that's a lot of consoles. Every time these type of numbers come out, I have to laugh at Gizmo's arguments that people weren't buying console's anymore.
18.5M. Wow. And that number is sold through to consumers.

I'd say that's an impressive first year despite it being a weak first year for content. Hopefully the upcoming exclusives (Order, No Man's Sky, MLB, Bloodborne etc.) and exclusive content (Arkham and Destiny) will keep the momentum up through E3. And I'd be surprised if we don't see a $50 price drop at E3.

Highlights of 2014 for me:
  • Warframe: Similar to but better than Destiny in every way. So deep, so good, and so free. Wish I could go back and give these guys my Destiny money.
  • PS Plus indies: Great stuff like Stick It to the Man, PixelJunk Shooter, Trine 2, Strider, TowerFall, Fez, Velocity 2X, Dust, Spelunky, SteamWorld Dig, Binding of Isaac
  • Remakes: I'm a fan of updating great games, especially those you might have missed
  • PS4 UI: Fast and intuitive. Very well done.

Lowlights:
  • Script Kiddies: They hit a lot of stuff but were especially successful against PSN.
  • Destiny: I've had some fun with the game, and it looks and plays great, but I really hate a lot of things about it. I regret the purchase.
  • PS4 messages: They hosted on a server for use across devices, which is fine, but it has to be the slowest server in the world. It's not uncommon for me to get messages 10 minutes after they are sent.

This looks interesting....

Swap in bigger, cheaper PS4 hard drives with Nyko's new Data Bank add-on

Nice. Would it essentially be a work around for being able to use an "external" drive? If so that'd be nice. I imagine my 2TB HD will be full in a couple of years.

I think it replaces the system drive, probably with some adapter. You'll basically pry off the top of your PS4 and replace it with this. And I assume you'll also need to plug it into the AC adaptor somehow as well.

Not sure I'd trust Nyko with this, but if MadCatz can make killer arcade sticks, maybe this'll work too.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Got the PS4 after Christmas and I can't believe there's no solution for a remote control for watching BluRays (I tried the HDMI Control and despite my TV and Receiver supporting it, I couldn't get it to work). On the PS3 I bought an IR remote and Cloned it to my Universal and it worked well. It doesn't work at all on the PS4 so I bought an Insignia universal only to find it's not IR and is RF so I can't Clone it to my remote. I guess I'll keep it for now but I wish I could just plug in an IR dongle and use it that way. Seems like a big step backwards along with the whole needing the controller to select the user even if you are just going to watch a movie.

I know people want it to be but I don't think Sony planned for the PS4 to be an all media center. With that said, they need to put out a remote for it.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Is there a way to turn off the pop-up notifications? When I am watching a movie I don't really want or need to know that friend x has joined a party over and over and over and over and over.....its bad enough that I get the "DS4 has been disconnected" because Sony won't give me a damn bluetooth remote.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

So recently I've been having a weird issue. Any of the games that I download from the PSN store online, won't automatically start downloading on my PS4. When I go to the download queue online, it shows they are there and waiting, but nothing happens when I boot up the PS4. I have to go into the store from the system and start the downloads from there. This just started happening within the past month or so. Any ideas what caused it or how to fix it?

I was able to do it from my phone just a few days ago, so whatever it is it's something with your setup. Idk what would cause it if you didn't change anything.

On the PS4 Make sure under Settings > System Settings > Automatic Downloads that you have the little square checked.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Yeah, that box was already checked. I recently downloaded a couple themes, and those wouldn't unlock either, so I did the restore licence thing. Hopefully that helps with something. I almost started messing with the setting for the primary PS4 stuff, but don't want to chance messing things up more.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

So I recently did the HDD swap and a few days later I realized that I forgot to copy my various saved clips/screenshots after I did my saves. Does anyone know if I can pop the original drive back into the system to save them or will I end up screwing up the whole thing and end up having to reformat both the original drive and the newly installed one again? Google searching says you both can and can't so I was hoping someone here may have done or knows someone who did the same flub I did and knows the answer.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

I had the same thing, but I was too nervous to check. I hope it's not screwed up (I had a game clip of the final out of a Perfect Game in The Show 14).
