I don't think that's really unusual, though. The PS3 launched in 2006, and Cerny said they were already doing post-mortems and starting to map out the PS4 in 2007. I could've sworn that I've read it's typical to start working on the next piece of hardware shortly after the current one launches.

All these companies have continual hardware development, even mentioned at the end of the article.

oh...I fully understand companies are always working on the next great thing...even the day after something is released. I was just pointing out MS is "looking for someone" to help build theirs while Sony already has someone.....Mark Cerny

Except Nintendo. They apparently didn't do shit while the billions were rolling in with the Wii.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Got a question with the Digital Pre-Orders with PS4. I've never done one let alone DL a full game. I'm considering doing it with the Destiny Guardian since we'll be playing at midnight now. I know they charge the full mount when you do the pre-order but...are you getting the complete DL then and later when the game offically releases get a "Activation Key"? Or just get a Activation Key at midnight to get the DL?

Amazon has the Digital Guardian available on their site and that's the way I'm reading it...At midnight you get the Key sent to your system, you activate it and start the DL. It's going to be a heck of a lot of people DL at the same time.

It's tied to your PSN account as soon as you purchase it from the PS Store.

Pre-loading for Destiny is available, but won't start until the 6th of September I think.

At Midnight on the 9th the game should be able to start immediately.

So the game itself with DLC all loads when you pre-order and then you get the activation key to unlock? Is it that way with just PSN or also with Amazon?

No activation key. The game just becomes playable after midnight.

There is no activation key with the PS Store, like I said it's tied to your PSN account as soon as you purchase it.

With Amazon exclusives, they'd probably email a code for whatever DLC they're offering before launch. If it's just an outfit or weapon skin the DL'd shouldn't be that big anyway.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Ok guys...sorry for the confusion and that clears it up. I'll probably wait then and do the pre-order next month and tell BB to stick it. Plus I don't care to drive 15 miles at midnight, get the game, come back and spend another 1/2 or so hour installing it.

By the way Ken...Kanjji should have her PS4 up and running this weekend. I sent her a few items to help get her started We're going to hit Warframe till next weeks' Destiny Beta. Both of us are taking off the 9th and 10th release day to play.

Finally got a chance to try out the Gold headset tonight and it's pretty damn good, comfortable too. If I get a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter, would I be able to plug it in to the Xbox 360 controller and use it for sound and chat?

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

With all the games coming this year....starting with The Last of Us end of the month, Destiny in September floowed by a onslaught in October and November I decided to order the Seagate 1TB Hybrid to replace the stock 500Gb. Since I plan to do a reinstall with Windows 7 over Vista I can use the PS4 500gb drive as a second drive. On Amazon there are several reviews from people who have used this drive in their PS4

I've been using that hybrid drive since launch without any issues.

I believe the 360 will only output chat through the controller. No game sound.

If you have a regular ol' Best Buy Reward Zone account, you can login and get the Gold headset for $69.99:

https://my.bestbuy.com/offers/offers...00a76f8019e594

Again, you'll need to be logged in first to see the deal. That's a pretty ordinary sale these days. To sweeten it, go to this page after adding the headset -- http://www.bestbuy.com/site/promo/ps...s-offer-124588 -- and add the $10 GC to your order.

$100 headset + $10 GC = $69.99 + tax

Made me pick up the headset in-store but the GC is being mailed to me...hopefully in time for the B1G1F 3DS sale!

I've been using the Gold Headset too. I've only used it for movies so far, but I love it. Tron: Legacy sounds amazing!

Well, my PS4 will no longer accept any discs at all. Am I screwed and now have to order a coffin box and then wait for them to fix it or replace it?
