re: PS4 Release Thread: Kill Launch App #Driveclub due October 2014!!!
This is by no means a majority opinion. A lot of people really enjoyed the game. It's really the creepiness of the atmosphere, not the "jump scares," that the game is good at

Outlast. I probably wouldn't be clamoring for a bunch more games just like it. But the the subject, the fact that you cannot fight, the pervasive darkness, and the rapidly depleting battery have kept me engaged so far. I've made it through my first jaunt back outside.

Is that a feature of the game or the controller?

I picked up the Gold Headset today. They are my first headset, so I can't compare them, but I am really liking them. They are comfy and sound great.

New Playstation Plus TV ad (really designed to highlight "Next Gen Multi-player" -- i.e. pay to play online)
They really have a great ad agency working for them at Sony USA.

Question for anyone who has the Pulse headphones, do those work on only PS3/PS4, or can you get them to work with other systems and devices as well?

They work with the included cable with anything like any wired headphones would. Plug the USB dongle into a PC and they work wirelessly with a computer.
Also : If you have the capabilities (long enough cable and possibly 3.5 to 2.5 mm headset plug adapter), you can plug the USB dongle into a powered USB port (like in the cable box), and run a connection from your receiver's headphone jack into the 2.5 mm headphone plug in the side of the USB dongle and then your entire system can work wirelessly.

So I take it the only way they would work with a 360 is if you had it hooked up through the receiver? Which would also mean you couldn't use them wireless in that setup?

Yes, the 360 would have to be hooked to your receiver for audio output. Even then, they would only function as wireless headphones - not for voice chat on a 360

if the xbox has an adapter with stereo cables, you can use one of those stereo -> mini headphone adapters to then plug into the dongle. A set came with my old turtle-beach ps3 wired headset.

Hey, scrubbed of all content, how much actual available space does your PS4 hard-drive have?
I know all hard-drives don't have the exact space that they're listed as having, but it's usually around 90%, like my PC HD is 500gigs with 450 available, and it's been the same with my previous PCs, 360, PS3, iPods, etc.
My PS4, however, is at just under 400gigs total available out of 500 - 80% seems way lower than what has been typical.

New system update...1.61 up now. Seems to be helping improve stability with no real new features added. Mine clocked in around 350mb.

I picked up Knack during Best Buy's sale a couple weeks ago and am now about halfway through my third playthrough. It's quite a bit more fun than reviews indicated, though the invisible walls, linearity and crappy narrative/gameplay consistency are all varying degrees of annoying. That said, if you're a completionist, the game is just about completely ruined by the diamond Knack stuff. I have around 250 gems and only 6 of them have been diamonds. The combination of requiring a lot of luck with the random drops and not allowing gems to carry over between play throughs if you change the difficulty level is just insane. If I don't somehow clean up on diamonds during the rest of my current playthrough, I'm probably just giving up on getting the platinum trophy and trading the thing in.

Are we really calling that thing "The One"?
In other news, 5.3 million PS4s sold to date. Launches in Japan next week.

I don't know the resolution stuff is still popping up as a big deal, the One is the weaker system, it is what it is. Makes up for it with other features that some people like I suppose (though since I don't really game online much I won't be getting one since I won't even be able to use Netflix on it.)

The thing that's kind of a big deal in my opinion, is that they gimped the long term rendering capability of "The One" ( ) to support a bunch of short term media and Kinect features that very few want and even fewer (outside of the hardcore fans) will actually use. And then they charged more for it.
And I have to admit that I'm slightly amused that a bunch of guys who have presumably (because of the forum they're in) double and triple dipped in the pursuit of slightly higher resolution for their movies can so easily shrug off a resolution gap that large in their games.

The "resolution stuff" isn't a big deal, provided it doesn't make the games unplayable or significantly less enjoyable.

The funny thing about resolution is that it hits a finite wall with movies and frankly I can't tell a huge difference between 720p and 1080p (though 480p to 720p was huge). In games it's similar though a bit more obvious (especially in text size). 1080p makes things clearer, but on a 1080p tv, 720p games with 4x MSAA also look damn good, 480p is blurry regardless. There's so much more that goes into how a game looks than resolution, it's why settings go from Low to Ultra, and not just 480p to 4K. Ultimately though, solid framerate over detail and resolution every time, but yeah it's a bit funny that the PS4 is so much cheaper and so much more powerful for the original intended purpose.

No, even scrubbed of it's operating system, it's only 400gigs out of 500 - I'm talking total available space, a completely empty hard-drive, and it seems to be way more short-changed than the typical hard-drive.

I'm pretty sure there is reserved space... maybe it has a hidden partition that is reserved?
