I think the story and concept did a huge amount to distract from some of the glitchy gameplay. I definitely don't think it was a horrible game.

I agree. I liked it a lot. The story was pretty good. The controls were glitchy, but the game was novel.

I'm getting a PS4 for Christmas, so I have Killzone, ACIV, and NFS Rivals coming from Amazon. I also would like BF4 but was waiting for the bugs to be worked out. My initial plan was to sell my PS3 but I still have a couple games I never finished, and I just bought Borderlands 2 for $15 and Bioshock Infinite for $20 at Wal-Mart. Also, until they get some sort of bluetooth remote working with it for Blu-ray playback so I can use my Harmony One remote, I'll be using the PS3 for Blu-ray movies.

Are there any issues I should be aware of before I open the box on Christmas day?

Some site reported that their PS4 had a piece of metal sticking out in the HDMI port that stopped the cable fully seating and ruined the cable, so I checked mine before I plugged it in.

You might want to download the latest update to a USB stick on your computer to avoid any possible network problems on Christmas day.

If you have PS+ or plan on buying it (it's required to play online with PS4) Borderlands 2 is currently free.

I would also recommend not selling your PS3 unless you only use it for games and are not planning on playing them anymore. I would say that the PS4 will not take over the PS3's spot as a home media center.

Also, keep it if you own 3D Blu rays. The PS4 won't play them (yet) for some unknown idiotic reason.

Also, if you already own a PS3 and just made an even more expensive investment in the PS4 then why wear it out by doing stuff on it that you can already do? This is the main reason why I don't see one of the biggest selling points of the other console as a big deal.

This is exactly how I feel. I can't think of a single multimedia function I want that the PS3 doesn't do brilliantly, and I have several of them, so why not continue to use them in that capacity and save wear and tear on the PS4?

It also has a fairly brilliant bluetooth remote that the PS4 doesn't have yet.

I also have a fairly impressive backlog on PS3 that PS+ adds to just about every month.

BTW I've read some of the posts in the Warframe thread and it is like a totaly new nerd dialect. Kinda awesome.

Fucking amazing is what it is, and Crackframe is about right!

Other than a little bit of glitch and jank and some fairly egregious load times, it is more or less a perfect mix of third person action and shooting, light RPG with skill points and crafting, coop with unique skills, character customization and loot whoring.

Some of you guys should jump in. I still haven't spent a penny and have had a ton of fun.

Yeah, I mean, I totally get why the PS4 isn't backwards compatible, and I have no real issue with that. But to drop the media functions that the PS3 had (especially the streaming) really dumbfounds me and kinda pisses me off. It really is a step backwards, which is kinda' ridiculous.

I think they wanted to make a gaming machine for games. They could always and likely will add many of those missing functions at some point. The PS3 was a mess when it came out as blu ray was still in its infancy and turds like Lair were not the most thrilling titles released at launch. I'm glad that they focused on a console that will get us some kick ass games during the next 12 months while becoming a media console, which it already is but more in a gamers capacity than an all encompassing home entertainment box.

I've been playing since getting my PS4 and half the stuff I still haven't a clue on...but it's anything but boring that's for sure. Yea...a slight learning curve but a game you can pace yourself solo or in groups, pay some, a lot or nothing. And the maps and worlds...I played a lot of Gears and Halo and they can't touch Warframe in that regard in size and amount of not to mention the detail. People playing Halo would be envious of the Warframe maps.

Pinball Arcade for PS4 is now available for Free. It's a shell to support buying DLC tables, but the shell comes with one free table (Tales of Arabian Nights), so that's a nice freebie even if you have no interest in spending any money.
If you do, however you can maximize your $$ by buying the Season One tables (18 in all) for $26.99 with PS Plus discount.

Cool...that gives me a chance to try ordering something on the web to see if it automatically downloads to my console (which is currently in standby mode). Theoretically, this should be waiting for me when I get home, right?

If you keep your console on Standby mode instead of powered off, then Yes.

If you bought flOw for the PS3 (not the freebie give-away they did one year at Holiday time), that should also be available for Free to grab now and add to your download queue.

A heads up you don't just make the purchase. There was a button after that which tells it to download to your PS4. I didn't have a PS3 so I don't know if that's new or expected.

"Bought" Pinball Arcade on the website and hit the download button (my PS4 was in standby). When I got home, as expected the game was waiting for me.

Not sure if or how this worked on the PS3, but on the 360 when you did this the download didn't start until you turned on your console. This is a much better experience.
