Average people, who are unsure of which one to get (and there are millions of them) will google "PS4 review" and "Xbox one review" and make their decisions based on that. Those reviews do not serve the core audience at all, and are meant to reach those people who just want a "professional" opinion and maybe a "score" even though I agree that assigning a number seems kind of dumb. Some people just want to see the number, though.

Anyway, back on topic. I saw about 30 people in line at Future Shop just before 8am. I was super tempted to skip work and get in line, but... responsibilities...

Based on everything, I can wait until March. But it's going to be a loooooooong wait.

Oh, and the launch event last night was about as good as that MS GamesCom variety thing. Drawn out, awkward in too many ways, and just a wrap-up of what's going on with the new system, which is totally fine, but still... too much awkwardness. I laughed when the host mentioned NeoGAF.

Right, but what he's saying is that the quality of the gameplay in its current state is inferior in the next-gen versions. He's arguing that it's not really an upgrade.

...which is why I stay away from Madden. Maybe this next-gen will have a pretty addictive arcade-style football game one of these days.

Picked mine up this morning at 8:00. Nobody else was there except for the employees. Finally got the update installed and downloaded, after four tries, and will now begin tinkering.

I was really looking forward to playing some Battlefield 4 today, but I'm reading that there are some server issues (shocking), so we'll see what happens.

Took my half an hour to dl the patch and queue up Contrast, Resogun, Warframe, DC Universe Online, and Flower. Didn't notice any network issues.

Christmas came early for several shoppers at a Dallas Wal-Mart, with Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant playing the role of Santa Claus.


Bryant showed up to purchase a Sony PlayStation 4 on the night of the new video game system's launch, and decided on a whim to buy one for several other shoppers who were waiting in line.

The PlayStation 4 retails for about $400.

At local video game stores across North Texas, gamers waited outside for the new PS4 to be released.

A few of the shoppers tweeted about Bryant's generosity, including one man who posted a picture of himself posing with Bryant at the store.

Bryant likes to boast that he's the world's best "Madden" video game player on PlayStation. He's challenged fans and teammates online to games. He has a few new friends to play against now.

"Holy crap, @Dez Bryant is cool ... just bought a bunch of people PS4s, wish I was there lol," tweeted Ben Freeman.

Played about an hour or so of Battlefield 4 so far. Pretty awesome. Couldn't get online yet because it's trying to download a patch for online play, so I'll check that out later. Also kept getting errors when trying to download the free games from the store. So I went online and did it, then queued it up from the console. Really slow so far (11 more hrs to download DC Universe) and Battlefield 4 took up another 40GB. So after today if I get around to AC4 and NFS, I'm going to be down to about 200GB of usable space.

The controller is pretty good. It's still taking some getting used to playing BF4. I keep accidentally throwing grenades when going to aim and sometimes my fingers fly off the sticks when trying to move around and quick aim. But it looks and plays fantastic so far.

I already have a DS4 from the Amazon deal so I've had my hands on that already. A part of me, deep down, has been tempted to hook it up to a monitor here though so I can go ahead and take care of updates and stuff, ha.

A friend of mine did the day one update from the console, no problem and said the speed was fast.
