PS4: 0 days without a DDoS attack

Re: PS4: 0 days without a DDoS attack
Honest question from an Xbox One owner who will eventually buy a PS4 (I always end up buying every console): Does anyone really use the touch pad? I can see how it would be useful, but it's an eye sore.

Other than using it as a button (well 2 buttons really), no not really. I haven't used it as an actual mouse trackpad yet other than to test it out.
But I credit its presence with the controller's elongated design which made it infinitely more comfortable to use.

It works great in Borderlands and in Diablo to quickly access inventory and menus. In many games it's an easy way to toggle the map. I like it a lot for those features. As a mousepad, it doesn't have much functionality.

Eye sore? It's not something you're supposed to look at. And yes, it's been very useful - as mentioned, a lot of games let you program different commands to different touch-swipes, such as bringing up a specific menu when swiping up.

The touch pad blends in with the controller. You don't even see it.
Now that hockey puck you shove into the bottom of an Xbox One controller to let you plug in wired headphones? That's an eyesore.

Yeah, the touch pad is just "there". Not an eye sore, and actually useful at times. What I don't like are the two buttons beside it. I always find them hard to find/press without looking down.
I won't tell you how long I went in The Last of Us before I realized that pressing the button actually brought up a key component of the game UI...

The light bar is more of an eyesore. Bought a second controller just so I didn't have to play using the charger all the time. Not as bad as the Game Pad for the Wii U, but it's mostly useless. There should be an option to turn it off instead of the dimming option, which is a joke.

Yep...as others have said the Touch-pad is used and does come in handy on several games. And I hardly call it a eye sore since it's just there flat on top. I came over from the 360 (still have it)and frankly like the PS4 controller.
....there...fixed...happy now?

I was delighted to discover that in some applications, you can navigate the on-screen keyboard using the touch pad, which is a lot more efficient than using the sticks or d-pad.

Touchpad is fine. Lightbar is fine, just grab you a decal off ebay. I made a Batman one at work, like this one.
I just hate the Option/Share buttons. Whoever designed those needs to be demoted, right along with whomever has overriding power on the analog location.

It's used with the camera stuff if I'm not mistaken.
Some games use it in relation to your character's health and stuff like that, but you don't ever see it so it's kinda pointless.

Re: PS4: 0 days without a DDoS attack
I'm happy to have my touchpad working again.
I had noticed some problems with the movement in Last of Us. Searching I'd found out that it was a problem in the stick. I took the DS4 apart and cleaned out the sticks with alcohol. (I also took the opportunity to put in the aluminum sticks.) The alcohol fixed the movement. Everything was great, except for the touchpad.
When I rechecked the cable, the blue piece on the back fell off. I opened the back of the touchpad and reseated that end. Tried the other end, but it still wouldn't work. It seemed that without the extra thickness provided by the tab, the cable wasn't in tight enough. I cemented the tab to the cable again. Let it set for a bit. Reinserted the cable. Now it's working.

Starting at the end of June, Sony of Japan will start selling the new PS4 model. It then will be sold in other continents of the globe. This is not the 1 TB model.
