re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong
I'm not in the know with most of past Sony 'Flagship' titles since I came over from the 360. But I do know the MS "Bread & Butter" titles and they are definitely Gears & Halo. Xbox One was announced in May 2013 which Devs had the kits to start making games. Two years later...where is Gears & Halo?
I played Infamous: Second Son and loved it and Killzone: Shadow Fall despite what some critics said. Bloodborne sales went thru the roof and Uncharted 4 is probably further ahead than either Gears or Halo. God of War 3 is ready for the PS4 and some believe we'll see GOW4 at E3.

I do agree Halo and Gears are the B&B of the Xbox systems, but there are a plethora of other titles, like Ori (which is solid) and the upcoming Scalebound that give it a good bit of variety. Though I will also agree that Second Son was a lot of fun, definitely moreso than Sunset Overdrive, even though SSO had more variety, the gameplay was just more fun in SS (part was probably nostalgia, since Second Son plays like an open world version of those old arcade beat 'em ups.) Killzone though was fucking terrible.
I own both consoles and don't use either a whole lot, or at least didn't until Bloodborne came out and devoured my soul for a good month and a half.

If and when gears and halo start back with Xbox and becomes consistent, I'll probably get a X1. I bought the 360 when the first Gears came out and have played all the series along with Halo. In fact getting the first Xbox was due to Halo period and playing with the famed DVD Clan here was nothing short of a blast and full of laughs...can you say Rocket Arena and Fight Club.....
I think E3 will bring more surprises for both systems; the big question will be for all these great looking trailers and games when? While I loved Halo it was Gears that I played far more of so it will be interesting to see any footage and any ETA on it. but there are far more cross play titles I'm interested as well...DOOM being one. We shall see....

The point was the jab about not having Halo or Gears out isn't any different from Sony, who don't have a new Uncharted, God of War, or Gran Turismo out with I'd say are arguably Sony's most famous titles.

No, the PS3 hub doesn't work with the PS4 at all. Sony recently allowed Harmony and others to connect via bluetooth, with the caveat that it couldn't power the system on. So if you have a Harmony Hub remote (the bluetooth ones, not the PS3 hub) there's a new device setting for PS4 that connects via bluetooth... but disconnects all the time when you switch off of it. In the forums, they say to turn your PS4 on first, but I've tried that, still loses connection and makes you go through setup again.
So back to the PS3 for media.

Yeah, the blog says "this evening" but I can confirm it's up now -- it's in the store under Media Player.

Tested it out to make sure, you can stream music from your PC while playing games as well. You just hold down the PS button (like to go to shutdown) to control the music.

Bear with me if this is a dumb question but ... is this the same sort of thing that the PS3 Media Server can do? I love the PS3 MS. It plays almost everything I throw at it, handles subtitles, and multiple audio streams and formats.

This is the Player portion so your PS4 can play files that the PS3 could. I'm not sure if PS3 Media Server will work with it or not.

The PS4 supports 3D blu-rays... not sure what Rob V is referring to though.

Having just downloaded the Media Player along with playing different Video files, I have to say I'm very happy with it. Freaking finally! I guess after Xbox One indicating Backward Compatibility, this is a very big plus on the PS4 side even though they didn't even announced during their press conference.
BTW, in case you didn't know, the jump drive has to be formatted to FAT and the files need to be in folders to be recognized.

The official announcement of Shenmue III means that I will be joining you guys and purchasing a PS4. Not sure when though. Fuck. Yes.
