So I can't play injustice. Is this because it's a free ps+ game and psn is down? What a crappy experience.

Edited to add: actually i can't play infinity 2.0 either and that's not a + game. Ugh.

I'm assuming you're using hdmi through your receiver, so it's simple, video set to automatic resolution and audio to hdmi out linear pcm. You can experiment with either bitstream option to see if you can tell the difference, but if you have a 5.1 setup PCM should be fine.

If it's an authorization problem, then go into settings/PSN and activate as your primary PS4.

It could also be that the game is trying to connect to PSN if they have multiplayer. Maybe the games haven't been programmed to skip that part if your connection is up but PSN is down. I've seen the suggestion to disconnect the PS4 from your router until PSN is back up.

PSN has been down for 48 hours. That's the problem.

They (Sony/MS/developers) have been entirely tone-deaf on people wanting a solid single-player off-line experience, even with downloaded games, living in a make believe land where internet and server stability is as reliable as electricity. It's not, not by a wide fucking margin. Yet they still design most things around an internet that's always there. Which is insulting as this time the problem is on their end and it's paying subscribers are the ones being denied. Sorry about the rant, but everyone called this when these internet-reliant systems and games were announced, and these companies seem so clueless as to the ease with which their servers can grind to a halt.

I can play my downloaded games. My PS4 is set as my primary, so it doesn't require an online license check. Don't Starve started up with no problem. Pixeljunk Shooter had an unending spinner until I went into settings and unchecked the connect to internet option. Then it gave me an error and let me go to the beginning screen. As long as the game detected the presence of internet it kept trying to connect to PSN.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

I decided to hold off on the hard drive swap until PSN is back up. I wanted to back my saves up to the cloud but had to do a jump drive instead (which took forever, btw. that was slow as shit). Plus I don't have a way to redownload my collection right now. So, kind pointless to mess with it just yet.

Also, are F2P games and games like Destiny automatically saved to the cloud? There wasn't a local save file for a few games.

Not sure about any other game, but all your data for Destiny resides on Bungie's servers.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Dragon Age Inquisition saves locally but the first step is to always connect to the Dragon Age servers. When the network is down, the game takes almost a full 10 minutes trying to connect before timing out and letting me know I won't be able to use network features like multiplayer.

I'm glad I can still play the game but 10 minutes is ridiculous, it should time out after 1 or 2 minutes.

About an hour ago it was down but the PSN Status Page is now showing "Green"...about to check and verify.

Update as of 9:30 Central still cannot sign in. Showing undergoing maintenance error code NP-35000-8

Oh man, I just didn't wait long enough. I thought it was completely hosed. I'll have to try that again.

Sony doesn't exactly have the best track record for their online services.

I went into the network menu in the PS4 settings and unchecked the connect to internet option. When I started up Dragon Age it only tried to connect to the servers for about 2 seconds.

Thanks, good to know for the next time Sony takes their sweet time getting the servers back up.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

My brother got a $400 console that is still in the box, $120 worth of games still wrapped and a $50 PSN card that has not been redeemed yet. He is really thinking of returning it and just keeping his PS3 at this point.

I've been playing Advanced Warfare online for hours the past two nights. Are people still having problems?

Either you haven't logged out of psn or you have the luck of a lottery winner.

How much bandwidth does a DDoS attack use up?

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

I was finally signed in a couple minutes ago. Everything seemed to be working fine. I was going to grab NHL 15 for $35.99 but that appears to be a US price. We are stuck with $41.99, so I'll grab it when it's $30 or less.

Guess I should buy a ticket then. Two separate nights of playing with no problems
