re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

I haven't used the gold headset to chat, but I love it for watching movies when I don't want to bug my wife.

And I also recommend the Wireless Gold. The only con for me is the battery life could be longer. Seems I have to recharge after 6-8 hours of use across a few play sessions.

Thanks, looks like the camera is a pass, haha. I'll be keeping an eye on amazon for the headset.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Have they fixed the issue with systems failing while in standby/rest mode in one of the recent updates?

Thanks. Just wanted to be sure it was OK to start using it again. I always kept the system in standby before I read about that.

They fixed it in the last patch (last week?) and I have used it a few times for downloads without any issues.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Thoughts on the PS4 camera? It is $39.99 at BB. Is it worth it? Do I need it? What do I do with it? Stream games while playing in my underwear? But seriously, I don't think there are any good games that support it currently. Are there other uses for it that are worthwhile? (voice commands, game chat).
Thanks

You don't need it unless you're into streaming.

Voice commands can be done through your headset and are slower than using the UI in my experience.

Not bundling the camera was about the smartest thing Sony did last year, and it's still selling amazingly well.

Okay, I'm already out of room on my hard-drive. So, what's the quickest/cheapest/easiest way to do a hard-drive expansion for the PS4?

If it's like the PS3, easiest way is to just buy a replacement HDD for it. It's a standard size. But you'll need an external drive to back up the data you have now.

I do like that when my headset dies that the PS4 switches to the camera within seconds so that you can continue to chat.

Right. It will all still be under the "Library" tab with a download button if you want to pick them back up where you left off. Or if you have the disk, you can reinstall. I just try to keep the mindset of only keeping stuff on the machine that I'm likely to actually play, and I always delete games when I finish them. I may find my way back to some stuff, but I've learned that I usually move on.

I think my iPhone has conditioned me for this generation.

All that said, popping a 1 or 2 TB drive into your PS4 is super easy and relatively cheap. You can get a 1 TB hybrid drive for ~$80. But the longer you can put it off and manage the space you have, the cheaper and faster that memory expansion will get.

Does anyone know if the games in the PS4/Last of Us/GTA V bundle are physical copies or downloads?

Thanks, I was hoping for actual copies of both (my internet connection is somewhat pokey and unreliable). Now to find a no tax free shipping place to buy!

newegg.com doesn't charge you sales tax, but I believe it depends on where you live. I live in New York City and they don't charge sales tax.
