Pretty cool stuff. After this I'm going to finish it with the Railroad and go bang Cait. Then I'm done for a while until the season pass kicks in. |

The more I play this, the more I'm finding it to be a soulless husk of a game.

Re: Fallout 4
Long time no seeing that gif :)
Rival, you make me laugh. How much time have you spent playing the game? I'm around 80 hours. Just met Virgil. :) |
Re: Fallout 4
Ha - I have almost two days worth of play time. Not sure how far I am with the main story line but it's pretty far.
I'm just not use to this much freedom in a game, when I figure a lot of this stuff out on my own I literally say out loud "You have to be kidding, I can do that too!!" If you look in the GTA V thread you will see it appears that I'm bitching a lot but I'm not, Fallout 4 has everything I wanted in a GTA game and then some. Rockstar had 6 years to add at LEAST some of what is in Fallout 4 and they didn't add anything!!! it's a ghost of a game!! It was just built on hype and man did they take advantage of it. But enough of that, I have my first Fallout game now. There is another bug I found as well...I did that "signal" quest at trinity tower (where you pick up strong (he's so annoying by the way, I sent him to sanctuary while all my other companions are chilling at the red rocket.....fuck strong) and I ditched codsworth for him, when prompted I sent codsworth back to the red rocket but he never showed up. I did the "wait thing" still nothing, turned off the game until the next day...still nothing - I then knew the game glitched and I had to go back to the tower to get him and even though it was glitch or whatever, it was absolutely f'n hilarious when I got there and climbed up a bit to hear codsworth talking shit tot he super mutants - got a kick out of that  |
Re: Fallout 4
I took a short break from the main storyline and went back and did some side quest stuff. Did about 8-9 Cleaning the Commonwealth quests in a row for some easy xp.
The Castle quest for the Minute Men was pretty tough. Until I used the Fat Boy. Now I'm at lvl 29 and using a +50% dmg to Super Mutant rifle to snipe and Dogmeat as a companion. No major bugs although there is one quest I can't turn into Paladin Danse. The quest marker shows up above his head, but when I talk to him he just wants to join as a companion. |
Re: Fallout 4
I think Danse becoming your companion is part of the quest. After you do those early Brotherhood missions, he's supposed to become your mentor.
|
Re: Fallout 4
No, there's a bug (which I guess they still haven't fixed) where you can't turn in quests to Danse until you proceed a bit further through another quest related to the Brotherhood. It was pretty annoying, but it fixes itself.

I've run into a bug when trying to complete the Institute ending.
Spoiler:
I may just have to go back to an even earlier save or just start a new character to get that achievement. |

Spoiler:
It's a retread of what happened in Fallout 3. There's a mission like that where you have to accompany him, as well. |

Re: Fallout 4
I gave this about 12-hours over 2.5 days on a Redbox rental and called it quits. There's not enough compelling me to finish the main story, let alone the sidequests. I'll probably pick it up at $20 or less. Right now, I'm gonna install Fallout 3: GOTY and give that another go.

Re: Fallout 4
I'm doing something right...over the weekend I plowed through this game. I'm only a level 25 with less than 3 days of play and not many more quests to do (I haven't looked through anybody's spoilers as to what missions affect what but I kind of know by just playing the game, I'm definitely NOT going to bring the holotape back to the brotherhood of steel just yet...as an example).
The perks I used to get me moving so damn quick are: Toughness (30%), Adamantium Skeleton (first level), Medic (first level), Hacker (advanced terminals), and out of frustration, I didn't want to do it but said whatever - first level of "Pack Mule" I definitely went about playing this game the right way as well (meaning sticking to the story missions only for a long while) as going back to do the earlier quests in the game were very easy and didn't take much time. Also, I don't know if you guys know this or not but, for those minuteman quests, every time the next step says "Go talk to preston" you don't have to, just do a ton of the minuteman quests then go talk to him and he will wrap up all the quests you did at once - it was actually pretty cool. Why I love this game so much (Me taking out the queen): <iframe src="https://onedrive.live.com/embed?cid=1E0D32EB24865E26&resid=1E0D32EB24865E26%21107&authkey=ABcnGfvh_ngjYSI" width="320" height="180" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

NPCs lives matter! :(

Re: Fallout 4
I'm over 5 days in and currently at level 63. I've got all but two achievements (benevolent leader and nuclear family). It's hard to find any new missions at this point other than Preston giving me the same ones over and over. I'm going to back away from this game and finish Tomb Raider. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for the DLC to come out.

Re: Fallout 4
I bought this on release for PC but ended up holding off to play Tomb Raider and then Starcraft II instead. Finally playing now, a few hours in, and having trouble getting in to it. I'm not quite sure why though. Then again I thought Fallout 3 started off pretty slow too so I'm trying to force my way over the hump. Not really feeling the much maligned dialog options, the new perk stuff, and some of the interface controls so far on the PC at the moment either.

Re: Fallout 4
So what level is everyone finishing this at? I just reached level 30 (70 hours or so), and STILL can't stand crafting... I have not done much of the main mission yet. I wouldn't say I have an awesome weapon or armor either pretty bummed about that. I have not found a plasma rifle either. That was my favorite from Fallout 3. Still seem to get my ass handed to me more that I would like as well. Fun game but becoming frustrating as I have not really found anything really cool yet. So if anyone has some tips...

I must say, the games perks piss me off...takes somewhat a while to gain a lot of XP for just one point. System is definitely broken. I have not found a plasma rifle yet either but I do have a ton of ammo for it. I haven't tried any shops yet either. I'm done with Preston, his missions are boring. Think I'm going to finally wrap up the main story-line after a few more minor side quests. I think there are 3 endings - I don't want to know anything about them yet though as I haven't finished one yet. |

Re: Fallout 4
Level 26 as of last night. Found a pretty powerful laser sniper rifle that also shoots well from the hip. Can take out the more powerful super mutants with 2 or 3 shots now.

Re: Fallout 4
I didn't start seeing Plasma weapons out in the wild until around level 50. Soon after they started showing up, I had one drop from a Legendary that had bleed damage, which is pretty sweet. Even if you find one early, you'll likely not get much ammo for it, and buying the ammo is quite pricey.

Re: Fallout 4
I have a plasma pistol that I'm always carrying, but I don't use it too much. I got 3-4 favorites.
I don't remember my level , but it's above 40, I think. I'm already in the part where you have to select a faction. |
Re: Fallout 4
So I think I've lost my dog.
I met up with Cait (?) and took her on as my companion, sending Dogmeat back to Sanctuary. Or so I thought... I've been back to Sanctuary a few times over several in-game days, and he still hasn't shown back up. I'm afraid he's stuck behind a fallen tree or piece of rubble, and he'll never make it back. Wish there was a way to see your companions on the map. That'd be pretty handy right about now. |
