Re: Fallout 4
Honest recommendation wanted: As someone who beat the main story of Fallout 3 but hadn't done any of the DLC and played New Vegas almost three times back-to-back-to-back, should I wait for this to drop in price and in the meantime do another runthrough of Fallout 3 and all the DLC? Honestly, I'm more interested in story and not flashy graphics, so that's a big factor.

Re: Fallout 4
This game is fun, there is a lot to do and a variety of factions to side with.

Re: Fallout 4
A couple of questions for anyone who bought the XBox one Fallout Console -
Did the Fallout 3 version have all the DLC? And, does anyone know if you can transfer your 360 fallout 3 gamesave (on usb) to the xbox one? Thanks! |

Re: Fallout 4
Damn, the amount of shit to store in workshops is overwhelming - I really want to focus on building stuff but your items don't carry over from workshop to workshop. Yeah I know, I can plop all my stuff on me and walk "Heavy" to one workshop but I don't want to do that.
I hear you can build carry bags for your companions and they don't get weighed down as easily - I tried doing this but....do you have to be a certain level?? I found nothing in the builder that shows you can craft any carry bags. when I'm around piper and accidentally weigh myself down she says "let me carry some of that" but I have no clue what to do. I'm a level 9 now but my guy is weak sauce, I tend to just try and run away from everything - can't believe how many hours I've spent on this game and I've barely done anything - just the way I like it. |
Re: Fallout 4
You can open up a trade dialogue with your companion and dump quite a bit of stuff onto them. You can also skirt the system by having them pickup items when they are already overweight. I have never heard of these carry bags.

Re: Fallout 4
Oh, didn't know that....do you actually trade when you do it or is there an option to "store"? and one last question...how do you make them pick stuff up?
Maybe I was mistaken then as I could have sworn I saw bags on dogmeat to carry stuff and asked about it. I saw those pack mules walking around but didn't have the heart to kill them. |
Re: Fallout 4
You open a trade dialogue, click on your inventory and then give them everything you have collected until it tells you that they can't carry anymore. I returned to my hub yesterday with over 700 pounds worth of stuff. Almost 600 pounds of weapons, crafting supplies, junk, etc. after I took out what I normally carry.

Re: Fallout 4
Thanks, sorry for the questions but this is my first fallout game and I'm not use to how flexible things are and the massive amount of options available.

Re: Fallout 4
You click on the companion and then look at the item on the ground from a bit of a distance and it will tell them to pick the item up.

Re: Fallout 4
Any good places to stock up on ammo? I've got a half-decent sniper rifle now, but can never find any ammo for it.

You can also set up a supply line between your settlements. Once a line is set up all your materials are shared between those settlements.

Thanks - will take a look. This game is seriously consuming me....I'm headed into "Deep nerd territory" with it - I'm scared.

Re: Fallout 4
I'm getting close to the 100 HR mark and have so much more to do it's mind boggling how much content there is to do. Is it possible to unlock every perk in one playthrough without grinding radiant quests? Or are they encouraging multiple playthroughs with different builds?

My advice, have at least 4 or 5 different weapons at all times that each use their own type of ammo. Also have a good melee weapon on hand for easier enemies to save on ammo. By level 20 or so my ammo problem went away, and by the end I had more ammo than I needed. At this point I felt like I wasted a perk spot on scrounger, but at least I made extra money each time I visited a vendor. |
