My god, the inventiveness of this game is just extraordinary. This should be on everyone's must buy list for the holidays, even if it means buying a Wii U just for it.

Also, I had no clue just how much integration with the gamepad there is. You can tap blocks instead of jumping under them, you can tap coins to grab them, including red coins, you can knock back tiny enemies by blowing into the mic, and you can stun bigger enemies by tapping on them (including those characters that you have to chase). This adds a whole new dimension to the game.

If you blow into the gamepad it will also reveal all of the invisible blocks for a second as well!

Pretty much what I did.

Thought I've only had enough time to play the first two levels.

I have a feeling that's what's gonna happen here sooner or later. Mario Kart coming out makes it a slightly easier decision.

The next major Mario game is out? I'm gonna need a Wii U.

Whoa. Motherfucking Whoa now.

Guess I need a damn Wii U.

Just sank like four hours into this game. Had no idea about all of that gamepad integration.

The first night I had it, I took it over to my cousin's new house...even though he was hooked on his Xbox One when I walked in the door, he ended up really immersed in Mario which so surprising since the only thing he plays is COD.

It's that good. If it continues to surprise and delight me as it's done so far (I'm on world 3 now), it may end up as my favorite Mario game.

Is there agreement on whether it's better with the Pro or the regular controller?

I prefer playing it with the gamepad. I'm just used to using it at this point for stuff like this, and then of course the added benefits of using the gamepad if any of that interests you. If that stuff doesn't matter to you, it plays great with the Pro controller as well. I do love that controller.

I don't need to see sales numbers to know this game saved the Wii U. Don't be surprised to see some insane Q4 totals.

Zelda/Mario/Donkey Kong would have almost been too much. The steady stream they have set up for the next year is perfect I think. I still need to grab W101.

Also, I went digital for SM3DW and think I'll be doing it from now on. Switching back and forth between games and having a silent Wii U with no disc drive "noises" are a plus.

For noise, is it a big noise maker?

In comparing to the Wii, 360, or the PS3, does it make more than those?

I've barely noticed any noise from it at all, and currently all of my games are disc-based.

I actually haven't... I usually play with headphones or with the sound up, but I imagine that it sounds like very other system when the disc is being read, my ps3 made some noises, especially when loading. People have said the optical drive is usually the common culprit for a system to fail, so I imagine going digital helps? I mostly went digital for convenience. Wind Waker spoiled me.

Re: Super Mario 3D World (Wii U) Time to dust off your Wii U!

I feel like a fool. I am siting here playing, wife watching, and I beat Beep Block Skyway (maybe my favorite level so far) and it got to the screen after where it shows the different drawings and stuff from different players. I said to her "wow, this game has been out just a few days and look at all of the amazing drawings already". I told her to watch this and I was going to draw something since I'm so horrible at it, and then, and only THEN, did I realize that you can use the stamps you have found in the game to make those pictures.

I thought all this time that there was actually that many people out there already playing that were just amazing at drawing all of the characters and stuff so perfectly.

That was great, lol.

I just took these shots, I loved this view...

And this one I hit the flagpole the second it hit zero. I love when that happens...

I'm on 9-3 now and these worlds are bitch. I'm going to have to settle for just getting all the green stars. No way I'm worrying about all the stamps.

The game looks pretty good and all, but all these screenshots make me want a current gen Star Fox.

Good for them! It's nice to know that the game I paid $60 for is a complete package. I'm looking at you, Froza 5, and your ridiculous DLC pay-wall...

Can you imagine a Mario game with microtransactions?

"Died and game over. Get five extra lives for $1 or wait 30 minutes!"

"want that invincibility suit power up? $2!"

"Wanna play those bonus levels? $5!"
