I think I would rate the telltale games as(not counting their Sam and Max or Back to the future games because those were more like classic point click games)
Walking Dead Season 1
Wolf Among Us
Walking Dead Season 3
Tales from the Borderlands
Minecraft Story
Batman
Walking Dead Season 2
and WAY WAY WAY down the list Game of thrones...
So far Guardians has potential...

Nice bump. I just started this the other day. Only played about an hour so far. It definitely earned its rating with all the language.

Finished this up yesterday. Skimmed the thread. I liked it quite a bit, but I don't think I outright loved it like everyone else in the thread. The characters, story and action were all solid.
Where it fell flat for me was the investigation and the overall illusion of choice. I was expecting to gather enough information to actually solve this crime but the way the info is doled out I don't think it's even possible. It was glaringly obvious at the end when you have zero evidence to point a finger at the right criminal. They point you in the direction of one character so you follow that lead only to be led to another character for a bit, then another and then to the man behind the curtain. My second issue is the illusion of choice. Choices seem irrelevant at the end. It's clear they are just leading you down the story they want to tell. Along those lines, I played the "good guy" and was nice to everyone and it didn't seem to matter in the end, I should have just "wolfed-out" and opened a can of whoop-ass on everyone.
I dunno, it fell short of being a truly "great" game and instead has to settle for being a very good effort.
I know this came out first, but the bar has been set pretty high by Life is Strange where choices do seem to matter. I know it's unfair to judge Wolf based on a newer game but it's hard to ignore after you've played a truly great game in the genre.

I wonder how i'd feel about the early Telltale games if I went back to them. I agree something like Life is Strange advanced/changed how these games play and how choices actually affect the game.

I think the episodic format really helped kill them at the end. I stopped buying their games until all the episodes were released because I would forget the narrative and my choices in the 4-6 months between episodes. Hopefully they switch to just releasing full games.
