RUMOR: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 15 Canceled.
The Tiger Woods PGA Tour series is taking a year off thanks to the cancellation of PGA Tour 15, according to a new report.
Unnamed sources have told Kotaku that the latest entry in the series has been scrapped as part of EA’s restructuring efforts. The site reports that the publisher originally planned to outsource development of PGA Tour 15 to give EA Tiburon two years to get Tiger Woods PGA Tour 16 ready for the PlayStation 4 and Next Xbox. However, this idea was scrapped after EA CEO John Riccitiello resigned last month.
It is also reported that several members of the Tiburon team have been moved onto other projects within the studio. When Kotaku contacted the publisher about these rumors a spokesperson declined comment.
The latest game in the series, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14, released last month.

A quick glance at vgchartz shows some very low sales numbers, so I guess this isn't surprising (other than the fact that even EA seems to have a point at which they won't just stick a new year number on the same warmed-over game and call it a new release.) I wish consoles would get a new golf franchise. I actually loved the arcade-style and courses of the Outlaw Golf games and would like to see something like that. Outlaw Golf 2 is the only original Xbox game I still play with the 360 .

I loved Hot Shots Golf on the PS. I wish we could get something similar on XBOX. Something that I could just pick up and play on some cool courses. I don't need all the fancy stuff of Tiger anyway.
I started out buying Tiger every other year and then about 3 years ago I just quit altogether.

I agree. It's not like the team sports games where there is player movement and a class of hyped rookies. You also don't have as many things like new stadiums, rules, and realignment to keep the game current. Even the ratings shouldn't change that much from year to year (unless someone is caught cheating on his wife, then his abilities plummet).

I was playing 10 until this year. The Historic Edition with the Masters presentation sold me. It was worth the price just for that. Otherwise, it's basically the same game. I don't think the added play mechanics make it better in any way.

My biggest issue from 10 to the latest ones is that I can hit a dead straight shot every single time. I actually bought TW 13 and really liked it but the first round i went 18 for 18 on fairways in regulation on the hardest difficulty setting. Same thing for the TW 14 demo. Shame too because I really like the other new elements of the game but its back to TW 10 again for me.

Does a Golf Video game really need a upgrade every year?
It's not like the NFL, NBA and NHL when players change teams and rookies come in and you need roster updates. The current crop of PGA, Champions Tour golfers stays the same for the most part. The courses don't really change either.
