The VR Gaming Thread (Meta Quest, Vive, PSVR)

re: The VR Gaming Thread (Meta Quest, Vive, PSVR)
Using the Move peripherals was a poor idea, I haven't touched my PSVR since I got a Rift.
That said the PSVR has some excellent exclusives with the gamepad, but I sort of realized that VR with a gamepad wasn't what I was after and most ports of bigger titles are pretty murky looking on the platform.

re: The VR Gaming Thread (Meta Quest, Vive, PSVR)
I decided to have a more indepth look at the PSVR yesterday and it seems good, but not great. The one thing i cannot seem to get past are how horribly designed the controllers seem to be. The Oculus Quest controllers look a near perfect design, whereas PSVR seems like two tubes with a colored tennis ball on the top. Can anyone comment on how good the PSVR is and whether i should consider it? The one thing that makes me pause more than anything is the fact that with the PS5 right around the corner i would not be surprised if VR gets an overhaul and we see new controllers and a new setup.

Welp if anyone with a Quest and some time and money wants to experiment with something interesting.
Buy Virtual Desktop (App)
Get a Shadow account (It's a high end virtual PC, it's pricey ($25 - $35/mo) -- first 10 days for $10 tho to screw around with it).
Setup Steam + Steam VR + Virtual Desktop Streamer on the Shadow PC
Update Virtual Desktop w/ the SideQuest patch (Plug into PC, load SideQuest App, press Patch).
Download a game w/ VR in Steam -- there are a few cheap/freebies.
Load Virtual Desktop and select Connect to the Shadow PC
You can also do it with a local PC but that's too easy It works surprisingly well for streamed VR games, my Wifi is the only crappy part about it, I need to replace that thing.

re: The VR Gaming Thread (Meta Quest, Vive, PSVR)
Is the Quest's game refund policy (for anything under 14 days purchased and 2 hours played) as easy as they make it sound? Since I don't see demos to try, buying and then asking for a refund seems to be the approach for me to try things to see if I like them.
I downloaded Beat Saber and control of the sabers is so much better on Quest vs PSVR, not to mention no fear of tripping over wires when moving around.

I am glad I went Quest over PSVR if for no other reason than the portability.
Space Pirate Simulator has been a big hit at my house.

Bought the official case for the Rift Quest, like it a lot, extremely good form factor/portability.

Yeah, Beat Saber, Superhot and Racket NX get the most use on mine.
Accounting+ is cross buy so I got that for free, I like it better untethered though the biggest improvement has been Racket NX (the game is full 360).
This kind of reminds me of Starship Titanic.

Well I ordered the Quest. Bit of a pain as the 128gb is not sold in PR and Amazon doesn't ship electronics to PR. In fact I think most electronics are not able to be shipped here due to sales tax regulations. So got it shipped to family in the US and should be arriving this week. I am very much looking forward to it. Vader Immortal, Beat Sabre and SuperHot will probably be the first downloads.
What other games or experiences should be priorities?

I'm impressed by the Quest but I would have been astounded if they had it running at PC levels on its first release, so it isn't a huge surprise there. It's more powerful than a Go but not up to an i7 with a 1080 Ti.
I was a little pissed I had to rebuy Beat Saber though, at least Racket NX and Accounting+ were cross-buy

My Quest finally arrives today. Cannot wait to give it a try tonight.
Update: Got it but due to work only had about 15 mins on it. But damn... That 15 mins was enough yo blow me away. The VR, movement and controls are all superb and the potential for gaming in the future is limitless. VR is going to change the face of gaming. This is no fad.
Update to Update: Well spent significant time on it today and this is just an incredible piece of equipment. Some of the games have basic graphics, but the experience is fantastic. That being said I played through Vader Immortal and started on Red Matter and both of those games look amazing. So immersive. Games will get better over time, but this is off to a flying start.
Only hiccup I have had so far is on Rec Room in order to enter the main room you need to register. A floating keyboard appears and it doesnt have the letter J. Kinda hard for me to register.

Vader Immortal: Episode II just went live in a bit of a surprise.
Time Stall is a lot of fun. I would like to see more games like it for the Quest.

Very cool stuff right there, hope the hand tracking works better than The Void.

I downloaded Vader Immortal Episode II last night. Play through only takes just over 30 mins, but its pretty entertaining all the same. The production in these episodes is fantastic, and its a shame the episodes are so short as i could play through one of these that lasts for several hours. The Quest is new and VR is still finding its feet, so sure that things will only get bigger and better in the future. The ability to use the force is cool and a great joy in being able to throw your lightsabre and then force pull it back. Looking forward to Episode III when it eventually comes out.

Yeah the production values have been absolutely fantastic. I'd love to play something with room scale movement (like Tea For God) with SW's Prod values (kind of like Secrets of the Empire with a little more freedom.)

Anyone messed around with the alt space app? It's pretty cool going to an open mic night in VR. Everyone who went up on stage was pretty horrible, but was still pretty neat thing to be able to do.
