re: The VR Gaming Thread (Meta Quest, Vive, PSVR)

I vastly prefer the teleport movement method (yellow feet). The traditional FPS type movement always throws me way off balance, and makes me motion sick after a while.

And I'm several hours in and this game is still living up to the hype. It's awesome.

So I've been playing Alyx wirelessly via Virtual Desktop on my Quest and have to say, impressive as hell how well that works.

All I want is a giant warehouse to play Half-life Alyx in

The fact you want physically walk huge portions of the game is just impressive as hell, especially wireless.

Getting chased in the game is creepy as hell.

You are not kidding. Having moved last June, I just setup my HTC Vive yesterday and d/l Alyx. Holy cow is it amazing! I cannot believe how detailed and immersive the city is.

Any other must have or sports games you guys recommend? I already have Beat Saber, Moss, The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners and Superhot.

Have you tried any of the boxing games like Thrill of the Fight or Creed? I wasn't a huge fan of Box VR but people seem to dig that one too.

I bought Stormland when it was on sale a few weeks ago and that would take the crown for best looking VR game if it weren't for Alyx.

I have Thrill of the Fight on my Quest... I think Stormland is only for the Rift, right? I have Vive.

We're looking at houses right now, and one of my low key criteria is a larger office to better accommodate VR.

I cannot get over how awesome Alyx is... I feel like I'm totally in another world. It's scary how much detail is there.... In the opening sequence, I grabbed a watering can and threw it off the balcony... it dropped about 15 feet, hit a power line and deflected about 10' off it's path. Amazing.

That's correct, Oculus Link! haha.

My Rift has been in the closet since Oculus Link became a thing, I've actually been streaming Alyx via Virtual Desktop to my Quest for a little more freedom.

I found a little piece of software that'll run Oculus games on my Hive... the controls are wonky but it does work. I gotta get my Quest Link working!

Oooh yeah, Link issues suck. I bought a new PC that had no USB C ports, had to buy an USB A -> C adapter which is a chore on its own (They make USB 2.0 USB A -> C adapters for some reason).

Try out Virtual Desktop as well next time it's on sale. You have to use Sidequest to get the functionality but it takes 30 seconds and is worth it.

re: The VR Gaming Thread (Meta Quest, Vive, PSVR)

I picked up Virtual Desktop and got things running... can play Rift on my Vive now... kind of. The controls are funky and not entirely mapped accurately to the Vive controller.

The acclaimed Vader Immortal VR game is coming to the PS4 sometime this summer. This makes me happy as I really have wanted to try it.

re: The VR Gaming Thread (Meta Quest, Vive, PSVR)

I played the first part of Vader Immortal and it is a very cool experience.

It looks like there was a revised version of the Quest coming at the end of the year (slightly smaller and lighter), but it will likely be delayed.

That's cool, my only complaint with Quest is the front heavy nature of it.

I didn't even think about using it with the Vive, I'm surprised they don't have better controls mapped out already.

Project "Del Mar" I believe. Shoudl be a nice upgrade and have some sweet "jedi" controls ... finger mapping and such.

I was just on my PS4, and noticed Walking Dead Saints & Sinners PSVR came out today. How did I not know this was a thing?

^^ I picked that up for my Hive... looks great. When PS isn't promoting stuff like that, it's a shame for VR in general.

An update for the Quest is due out very soon... allegedly it'll track your hands without a controller.
Not sure how that'll play but it is technically impressive if it works.

Thats been out for some time - since around when the Oculus Link Beta started. Works well enough but I don't think any games support it

The free updates to this thing have been great. I swear Oculus Link looks better and feels a little smoother since that last update which allowed USB 2.0 cables. I'm probably just imagining it, but Fallout 4 VR has been running much better since then.

re: The VR Gaming Thread (Meta Quest, Vive, PSVR)

I picked up Arizona Sunshine and I thought it was a lot of fun. I balked at the $40 price for quite a while, but I'm glad I gave it a shot. The gunplay is great and the main character made me laugh a few times as they (I) were gunning down zombies. Aiming was really good, and it was fun dual-wielding weapons and taking down zombies. Most of the time I was sniping with a pistol in my off-hand, while getting ready to use whatever I was holding in my right hand. I've only played the campaign mode, so I can't comment on anything else. I'd definitely recommend it if it goes on sale.
