I just can't believe they got that far with it before they decided to call it quits. I mean 3/4ths of the series is available plus you can get the movie if you're in the Disney Movie Club. You would think they could just do one last set for the remaining episodes. Even if they did something like Warner's burn on demand program I'd be satisfied. Just to get the remaining episodes.

Also I hope that the second DuckTales game is eventually remastered too if this one does well.

Awesome. It's a shame to lose the 8bit music but damn, the original voice talent just warms my heart and more than makes up for it.

Do we have a rumored date yet? Summer of Arcade?

There was a pic of a Gamestop computer screen which showed a date of August 1, but that's a Thursday. Their website now shows August 31, which is a Saturday. It won't be a Summer of Arcade title because of the whole exclusivity thing. I'd guess August 14/21/28, one of those dates, depending on when the SoA is over. We should hear more about SoA next week.

Lara Croft was a SoA title despite being multiplatform. 360 had a tiny window where it was exclusive. I can see them doing that for DuckTales.

Sold! And I have no nostalgia for this game having been too old to own the game or watch the TV show when it was originally on. That just looks like a nice platformer for the family.

According to IGN it's August 13th on Steam, WiiU and PS3, and Sept 11th on the 360. Enjoy your Summer of the Arcade!

In a weird way, the lack of backward compatibility in other systems is leaning me towards getting the WiiU version of the game (unless it's horribly buggy or something). In other Disney related news, I'm also leaning that way for Infinity.

I was thinking the same thing fujishig. I have a shit ton of MS points but I'm enjoying the WiiU lately. I might cave so I don't have to wait and that way it's on a console that I know will be hooked up for awhile.

It's a stupid MS policy : No other XBLA games during their Summer of the Arcade, and no multi-console games as part of the SotA (unless they're delayed on the other consoles like Lara Croft or the previous TMNT brawler).

I've never pre-ordered a game on PSN before. How does this work? Does it automatically get installed? Do I get a notification when it's available? What time will it be available?

Nope, it won't install itself. But when the store updates (usually between 2pm-6pm PT on Tuesday, but sometimes as early as Noon and occasionally as late as 8-9PM), the game will appear as "Free" when you log back into the PSN store. You can select it and download it directly from there.
Alternatively, you can go to the Online Store after the update, log in, click on the game and queue it up for your PS3 -- it might download it to your system before you get home possibly. BTW : Best thing about pre-ordering it from the PSN Store (besides the 20% discount for PS Plus members)? The free Static theme they give you is beautiful and awesome!


First English-language review is in from an Australian site. Sounds like they did a great, great job with the conversion. Now I know who Way Forward is (it was a topic of discussion in the Smurfs 2 game thread).

No guarantee, but this might be on the Wii U eshop at midnight. That's what they did for The Cave. I think that retail releases and downloadable titles that aren't part of the regular Thursday update get midnight releases. I would love to be playing this tonight.

It's only a $10 Credit if you bought all 4 PLAY games (Stealth, Inc, ibb & ebb, Cloudberry Kingdom, Ducktales). Preordering also gets you a 20% discount if you're PS Plus. And yeah, like I said, that theme is fantastic eye candy.

IGN gives it a 7.0 and says it has some problems, especially with story elements and some with controls.

The storyline issue seems like a fair criticism. Is making those more easily skippable something that could be done in an update/patch later? As for the gameplay, well, either the game does gameplay like the old game or it makes it different. Either way, some fans of the original will be frustrated.

Wow, Game Spot really disliked it.

Not that I care much. For $12 (with a free theme to boot), it's worth the download for me. Looking forward to checking it out tonight. Will attempt to remotely download it to my PS3 this afternoon -- not sure if that'll work

It's cool that you can choose to listen to the original NES music, if you want to. If they're not going to release the original game anywhere, I wish that would have been included as an unlockable.

FWIW, Duck Tales Remastered is up and available in the PSN Store now. I've purchased it (for "Free" since I already preordered it) and queued it up in my Download list. Hope it downloads before I get home, but doubt it will. It's 643 MB

You have to turn the PS3 on yourself to get the download. Maybe if you have plus set up to do automatic updates in the middle of the day, that might do it, but typically you'll turn on the PS3 and it'll tell you you have a download waiting.
