But lots have also been delayed to 2015: Arkham, The Order, Battlefield, Witcher, Quantum Break, Dying Light, Division, Halo 5, Mad Max, Deep Down, and probably others I'm not thinking of.

It creates an opportunity for Destiny to be even bigger than it would have been otherwise, just like the summer release helped Watch Dogs so much.

Why do any of you care about the overwhelming success or colossal failure of Destiny so much? If you like it, buy it. Play it. If you don't, then don't. Page after page of this speculating nonsense...

I thought I was asking a legitimate question as to why there's so much hardcore talk about the business of Destiny and not the game itself. Sorry to offend.

To be fair, I think it's relevant to the discussion with this one, since Activision PR has been pushing the angle of what a crazy huge investment this is. While I'm sure they've spent and are spending far less than the initial claims, the financial performance of this has the potential to impact the industry, for better or worse.

I'm curious to see how well the game does. Mostly because it's a new IP, geared towards next gen and since Watch_Dogs did so well. Also due to the lack of many other AAA titles this half-year. Should be a big hit, but you never know for sure with a new IP

I personally don't have much to say about the game at this point because I know what I am going to get. I put a lot of time in the beta and alpha and enjoyed them. I love talk about boxoffice for movies and sales on games. I personally want to see Destiny do well because it will mean more games like it in the future and the more fps/RPG open world hybrids there are the better.

I've got it pre-ordered for the PS4 as well (screw my fence-sitting, next-gen delaying, MS-devoted friend). Don't know if the LE is worth the extra $$$ (and worth missing out on the $10 Best Buy GC), but not cancelling pre-order out of fear of scarcity

It's part of the fun. And the posts grow when one of the "famous" posters use hyperbole. :D

Activision basically tried to release the game as far as possible from COD, both being in the "hot" season.

But, what are you going to play if you don't get Destiny?

For me, the fall calendar looks as full as always. A lot of variety, new IPs, Destiny looks big of course, and the usual winners, FIFA/COD.

November looks crazy, again to me, first the new COD, then Halo: The MC Collection, and then FC4. I need at least a month for each of them.

What he said, except that I don't care about hockey, so just Destiny.

The only other potential purchase for me is some kind of B2G1 or other bargain bin combination of Tomb Raider, AC4, Rayman Legends, Last of Us or Infamous...older stuff that I want to get at lower prices than full retail.

And yes, almost that entire release list is bargain bin fare. Far Cry, Evolve and Dragon Age might be the worthy exceptions, but Destiny should scratch my co-op shooter itch, and Witcher is right around the corner.

Still just Destiny for me. No hyperbole. I'd go for the Halo collection but... PS4. I'd say I'm typically down for 4-5 games every Fall. This is just an off year for me I guess, or next fall will be huge for the franchises I enjoy.

Might end up caving on the last gen Borderlands game if I tire of Destiny.
