So it's pretty much official that the next gen Xbox comes out this fall (November?)

When will you be picking yours up?

Normally I'd say release day, but because I've got such a big unplayed pile for 360 I may wait a couple months.

Hmm...launch, or wait a while.
Seeing as how my only launch purchases were the Saturn and the 32x, I don't think any Xbox fan wants me to get it at launch ;)

I usually wait till a year or so into the lifecycle. Second or third gen of games, maybe 1.5-2 gens of hardware, and quite possibly a small price drop.
At present I still have dozens, if not hundreds of hours, of semiplayed, unfinished games just on my shelf, and that doesn't even count games like Rock Band or arcade titles.
Of course if there's some super title that really gets my attention, that will make it a little different.

If it's got good backwards compatibility with 360 games, I'll buy it at launch.
Otherwise, I'll likely wait for the first must-have title or the first price-drop. It'll likely be the only console I purchase in the next generation.

Really? Midnight release of course, and at least one day vacation, probably two. I'm married with two kids, so I don't have a lot of "free" time :lol:

Never for me. I think I am done with gaming. Over the last 5-6 years my interest in gaming has just dwindled away. I still frequently replay older games like Civ IV, the original two Fallouts, Baldur's Gate, etc but I have essentially zero interest in the modern gaming scene.

Like this generation, I'll probably say a few years since I've got a huge backlog just like most everyone else, but I'll probably get one sooner if a good bundle shows up.

I probably won't. I mainly bought the 360 for backwards compatibility, so that will be a big factor for me in picking up the new system. As it is, my 360 collects dust.

When it's easy to get and decently priced. I don't need to wait in lines or pay a ton of money for something that can wait.

I'm hungry enough for a new console that I've almost picked up a Wii U, despite my Wii only getting used for around a dozen games over the past six years. I've held off by promising myself I'll get the new Xbox on release day, so barring an obscene ($600 or more) price tag or something idiotic like anti-used-copy tech, I'll be there day one.

If the price is right, I'll pick it up day one. But I'll still be surprised if Sony or Microsoft have consoles out by the end of this year. They might show some stuff off at E3, but I still think we will get them in 2014.

If they have some sort of anti used game system in place I will move to pc only gaming...if the system is still like current gen, with online game codes, but the ability to share games with friends (and three kids in my home) I will buy it day one...

I am on the fence. Until last year I would have easily said launch day, but I have really gotten into PC gaming since Diablo 3 came out last May. I haven't played a 360 game since then. I am leaning more towards skipping this launch and putting that money toward a new laptop next year.

A year, possibly more down the road. After going through several xbox360s before my current one which is working pretty well (knock on wood) and having a huge backload, I have no reason to drop money on a new system. We still have yet to find out one thing about backwards compatibility, if the kinect will be mandatory, etc. The 360 when you get down to it was awesome. The old xbox while there were solid titles, clearly fell to PS2...it's a matter of seeing what will happen. And honestly, I'm not that optimistic. (Which is okay because as I said my backlog is huge)

I'll pick one up when they're easy to find and there's a must-have title for me, which would mean some amazing RPG that isn't available on current gen.

Probably six months to a year after launch. I have no desire to stand in a line for the release or pre-order the thing. Plus, with the exception of the Dreamcast, I think pretty much every systems launch titles are rather meh.

And honestly, I don't think you're going to see those new systems this year. Q1 2014 is more likely. But thats just a hunch....
