Xbox 360 Smartglass.
Can someone explain to me why my Asus Transformer Infnity is not compatible with this app? I thought it was already available for android.

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/smartglass#get-smartglass
It states Android compatible devices: Smartphones only (4.x) |
Re: Xbox 360 Smartglass.
So will it ever come out for android tablets?
|
Re: Xbox 360 Smartglass.
If you read through the reviews for the app, you can see that support for tablets is being added, but it is not indicated on Microsoft's site.

Re: Xbox 360 Smartglass.
Well looks like its only supporting 7" tablets for now. Geez

Re: Xbox 360 Smartglass.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Android fragmentation. The main reason I switch to iOS. Smartglass works great on my iPad.
|
Re: Xbox 360 Smartglass.
Honestly this and the GoPro app (fairly recent as well) are the first instances of fragmentation I can really think of  everything else runs on Android 2.x and generally works well unless you bought a cheap phone
I'm guessing there's something to do with Wifi modes in 4.x, not sure why they won't allow this on larger tablets though unless they're working on an optimized version or there's some sort of DRM issue. |

Re: Xbox 360 Smartglass.
The main reason you switched to iOS was to use Xbox Smartglass?
|
Re: Xbox 360 Smartglass.
No, I switched from android phones/tablets to iOS due to Android fragmentation issues.

Re: Xbox 360 Smartglass.
I have an iPad and an Android phone. Problem solved!

The difference is that Microsoft targeted iOS and made sure that they had all the major devices covered, while relegating Android tablets until after the launch of iOS and Android phone devices. They likely went by market share for prioritization (although of course they prioritized Windows 8/RT and Windows Phone, because they're Microsoft). |
Re: Xbox 360 Smartglass.
It's a little clunky with my iPad, but there is potential there.

Re: Xbox 360 Smartglass.
The apk is easy to find online and can be installed directly. That's what I did to get it running on my Nexus until the recent update enabled 7" tablets.

Hate to take this off topic, but I can accept shitty app selection or poor whatever, but honestly how many times did fragmentation actually effect you in any way?

Re: Xbox 360 Smartglass.
Android vs iOS pissing match aside, the feature itself works well...surprisingly snappy! It's just not very compelling to use.
