From what I've read, it erases the original Wii console.

I have played NSMBU and Nintendoland. Mario is great as expected, a new Mario game that is very much a throwback to SMW, and Nintendoland is just fine for what it is and the purpose it is meant to serve. I still have not opened up my ZombiU yet though.
I love, LOVE, how easy it was to set up the gamepad to control not only my TV, but also my Charter cable box and just using those features in general. I could see that being incredibly handy. It's also great to be able to use Netflix on day 1, even though the other features like that are not coming until later. There is a ton of potential in this system, and I can't wait to see how it evolves, both in terms of games of course but also all of the other features for entertainment.

Sounds like another shit the bed situation like Sony's decision to bind a hard drive's content to one PS3. I was interested in this for my daughter but now I'm not sure if I am ready to invest just yet.

The only reason that news doesn't bother me all that much is because I have never had a piece of Nintendo hardware fail on me, and I'm hoping for the same this time around. I know this is a more complicated piece of hardware though, so who knows. I hope that this is the system that I'll have throughout the life of the system just like my current Wii is the same one I bought on day 1.

Does anyone know if the TV remote functionality can control an AV receiver (i.e. switching inputs/volume control)?
So does the transfer process remove all game saves from the original Wii? I assume Gamecube saves aren't transferred or deleted.

Haven't had a chance to play too much yet, but I've had fun with what little I've played so far. I haven't done the system transfer yet, I'm also curious how it works when the majority of your Wii content is already on an SD card. Guess ill see tomorrow.
Cool, added you.
I'm on as ultimaton, anyone feel free to add me.
Will we have a thread to add one another or should we just do it here?
For what it's worth, mine is: Downhome
Add me when you want, and I'll accept whoever and I'll be adding names as they are posted either in this thread or another on, whatever we decide to do.
Transferring me and my wife's Mii's over was incredibly simple btw. I'll try the complete Wii to Wii U transfer soon.

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
I have my Wii U but won't be able to open/set it up for another week. Two quick questions, can I go ahead and register it with my club Nintendo account (just needs the serial number, right?) and can I go ahead and set up my user id (I assume not if it's - bullshit - tied to the console)?

You need to connect to the eShop to register and link it to your club Nintendo account.

FYI the 20% off TRU coupons that were emailed out work on Wii U accessories. I used one to pickup a pro controller. I believe the sunday ad has a coupon as well.
My local TRU had at least 10+ copies of Zombie U. I am thinking I might return it until it gets cheaper though as the reviews are terrible. It's also a ubisoft title so it'll probably be $20 in a few months.

Yes. It certainly looks like it might be worthwhile to wait on ZombieU. I might just stick with NSMBU and Nintendoland for a bit. Nothing else is really jumping out at me.

Am I the only one that sees the direct comparison between ZombieU and Red Steel? Both published by Ubisoft, launch titles for Wii system, M rated to skirt the "normal" Nintendo audience, mixed reviews but ultimately looking like a missed opportunity? Sent this reply to my brother when he was asking for people's thoughts on ZombieU:
They really won’t figure it out until ZombieU 2 and then it will come bundled with the WiiU tablet plus.

Ugh, getting so close to opening my ZombiU after reading impressions from normal gamers instead of from reviewers. It sounds closer to what I was hoping it would be than what the reviewers were wanting/expecting it to be. That being a very slow, methodical, survival horror game where you are constantly in danger.
EDIT:
And Joystiq just posted their review - 4.5/5:

Even the words that go with these reviews make me feel like they're playing different ZombieU games.

Eurogamer, who is typically pretty strict on their scoring, gave it a 9 out of 10: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/20...-zombiu-review
Destructoid gave it an 8 out of 10: http://www.destructoid.com/review-zombiu-238776.phtml
"ZombiU brings real survival horror back to home consoles, and that's what we should really be talking about."
And that's probably what's dividing people.

Looks like my system is delivered. I'll only have Ninetendoland and Black Ops 2 for a while. Can't wait to dive into Zombie mode on the gamepad while my gf watches TV.
Can anyone who's done the Wii transfer let me know how much space on the SD card is needed? I only have two single games saves to move but the only SD card I have which isn't being used is only 32mb (yes...that says mb). That's plenty of space for the saves themselves but I don't know if any space is needed for the program.
