re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

I've had my battery die while playing co-op Black Ops 2. But the charging cable is long enough for it to not be a huge issue. For $25, I'll try one out.

I will have to pickup one of those batteries once I get some more games.

I am almost done with Mario and some of the final levels are a pain. A lot of those gold coins have cost me many lives...

Well, at least it's a replaceable battery...

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

The short life of the battery has been a huge issue to me. Mine seems to last even shorter than a lot of people, maybe two hours or so if I'm lucky. I use it fairly often - I have three games, a few downloadable games, all of my Wii stuff, and then I use it a lot now for TVii. This new battery is a must have for me.

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

My issue with the battery is that it's even an option and at "only" $25, it doesn't seem like it would have been a big deal to have it in the gamepads by default. On the flip side, it's nice that you have the option to replace a bum battery in the future.

Anyway, it's been out for less than 2 months, it's a 3rd party battery, and the thing was designed to hold it. It just annoys me as a consumer.

It pisses me off too, but I heard more than anything, the reason Nintendo did that was because of weight concerns, along with cost as well I guess. It will be interesting to see how much this changes things.

New demos available: ZombiU, Rayman Legends, NBA 2K13 join Sonic Racing.

Just tried the Rayman demo, gorgeous game. Has 3 short levels to play, the musical demo was a hoot.

I wonder how many of the musical levels there are. That was the first thing I ever tried on the Wii U on a Best Buy demo station and it instantly connected with me. I know you can't have an entire game of that really, I guess, but I would love a ton of that sort of stuff in the full version at least. I loved it so much.

If you have a plex server on your home network, you're supposed to now be able to stream videos to the Wii U browser using Plex/Web. The plex server transcodes the video/audio into the a format the Wii U can play. its all free and pretty easy to set up

^ Had to Google that one. Apparently it's Disney's answer to Skylanders.

I know I'm not the target audience, but a bunch of character-specific games with some crossover appeal doesn't sound that great to me, I'd rather they take the Skylanders model and create a unified, Kingdom Hearts-type disney universe where all these characters can play together from the get-go.

But who am I kidding, extend this stuff to Marvel and Star Wars subsidiaries and I'm in.

Got all excited when I was browsing Amazon and saw this...

When I clicked it the only WiiU titles on that page were the 3 shown in that picture.

Lego City Undercover now has a date of March 18!

Reported here, here and various other outlets.

After downloading the demo...I agree!! Would be neat if it was an unlockable mode or something.

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

Not sure if it was mentioned yet, but Target has a weirdly unadvertised WiiU game sale, b2g1f. In addition to that, some of the games are on sale for 45 bucks, including Madden, NBA 2K13, Ninja Gaiden 3, Tekken Tag, Batman, and a few others. At this point I think I have enough launch games to play through (though some of those are tempting... if Madden and NBA weren't partially gimped and if I didn't already own them, I'd go for them for the portable play alone). If they had Dynasty Warriors I'd rethink, but no big store seems to stock that one...

Also they had like 5 each of the WiiU versions. The TRU I visited yesterday only had 1, but they had a "limit 2" sign, which I thought was largely unnecessary... are these still being scalped?

Yeah sadly my Wii U is now collecting dust as well. I spent a lot of money to play New SMB apparently.

I would have sold it before Christmas but like a dope I transferred everything from my Wii right away. I guess I'll start the long wait for the next Zelda game.

Are they ever going to make NSMBU support the wii u controller pro? If so I'll pick one up again as I hate using the wii remote.

My daughter seems to enjoy placing blocks above my head right when I am about to jump...

Doubtful. The last 2 levels have motion and the Pro controller doesn't support that.

I love reading these posts. I mean really, it's not like you didn't know what games were going to be available at launch.

I'm still getting plenty of use out of my Wii U, and I see enough games on the horizon to hold my interest. I will admit to being surprised at the dearth of post-launch titles, though (a tiny, tiny trickle in Dec.. Jan., and Feb.), and a bunch of the "launch window" titles have been pushed off.
