Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

I didn't like this game very much. It didn't really feel like a MGS game and it felt more like a really poor mans Splinter Cell. The stealth didn't seem as good as the past games, and the controls really take some getting used to. Course it doesn't help that they don't really give you a tutorial or anything.

It was also weird not hearing David Hayters voice as Snake. I'll still buy Phantom Pain when it comes out, since I've played every Metal Gear game since the PSX but my expectations aren't very high right now.

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

I think ditching Hayter was the right move. He seems like a cool guy but his performance as Snake peaked with MGS (and wasn't exactly amazing there either) and was all downhill from there. Sutherland is much better as Snake. I just wish they'd have ditched a few other cast regulars as well.

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

Hayter always sounded like Sutherland-lite, so why not just go for the real thing.

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

FYI, all versions are on sale for $19.99 at Best Buy as part of their 3 day sale. I actually just noticed that our library had this, so I'm going that route since it's short.

Amazon has price-matched. I don't have a PS4 yet but I'm gonna bite on that price.

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

i actually liked this game quite a bit.
but that last side mission where you had to destroy 3 or 4 anti-aircraft guns is really hard.
i have not been able to complete it since it has no save points.

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

If I never really played any of the previous MGS games (except for the first game, but never finished it) is this still worth playing since it's free on XBox One? Or am I going to have no idea what's going on?

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

It picks up right after Peace Walker, which I never played but understood the miniscule plot just fine.

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

well fuck this game

I wanted to play it before getting to Phantom Pain but it appears my L2 button will not function at all in the game (yet not issue with any other games)

I kept wondering why I couldn't ready my weapons and was getting beyond frustrated thinking maybe I had to do stealth work before getting to use them, but no, weapons should be available from the start

don't know if this is a common issue (playing on PS4 via download of PS+ version) but I did search and see a post with someone else claiming the same issue
http://mgsforums.com/topic/7725911/1/

can't think of any remedy except to maybe delete and reinstall or remap the buttons so L2 performs a function I wouldn't use?! but to hell if I am playing the whole game with CQC only

same reported here (and it looks like reinstalling didn't help) : http://www.neoseeker.com/forums/6750...4-l2-won-work/

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

Hrmmm. I wonder if my PS3 download has issues? Is it specific to the console? Or was it in other consoles too?

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

not sure .... didn't immediately find much out there on it other than the 2 links I posted by searching "L2 Ground Zeroes issue"

sucks because I don't see a workaround and it makes the game unplayable

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

For shits and giggles (which you said you like in another thread ), have you tried a different controller assuming you have an extra one?

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

I do have an extra one (not opened yet) but it would seem very odd that it would be a controller issue since L2 works with all other games/functions

maybe (for s&g) I'll try at some point

Re: Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

sure enough it was my controller which again makes little sense since it works elsewhere
