Re: Steam Summer Sale - July 12th - 22nd
I don't know the specifics, but Ubisoft published the original PC Far Cry. Sometime after its release, Crytek and Ubisoft had a falling out. I guess maybe because the publisher finances the whole project, they retain the IP rights? I don't know.
But anyway, Crytek joined with EA and so EA publishes the Crysis franchise while Crytek develops it, and Ubisoft both publishes and develops every Far Cry game since the original PC game.

Re: Steam Summer Sale - July 12th - 22nd
I tried not to buy much this time, but I kind of failed. Although most of the games I bought were $5 or less. I didn't add them all up, but I'm pretty sure I got all these for about the price of one full-priced game. So, I got out cheaper than I have in the past.
Batman: Arkham City + Harley Quinn DLC
Tribes: Ascend - Steam Starter Pack
Bastion
Dear Esther
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit
The Binding of Isaac + Wrath of the Lamb DLC
Galactic Civilization II
Dead Island
Botanicula
Dungeons of Dredmor: Realm of the Diggle Gods DLC
Splinter Cell Conviction
Bulletstorm

Decided to just go ahead and get Max Payne 3. I don't think I have the time to bother getting all the games some of you are; a lot of those would probably just get left unplayed

I'm scared to go through and add up everything I bought. All I know for sure is that I only started on Steam a few months ago and right now I have over 50 games. So, yeah...

I thought the sale was supposed to end yesterday. They are still going on. I missed out on Dead Island at $10 unfortunately.

The new deals stopped yesterday, but they were scheduled to run until noon CST today. That seems to be the normal "daily" schedule for Steam, in my very limited time with it.

Picked up SPAZ as my final purchase. Damage wasn't so bad this year...
Pre Steam Sale grabs:
Borderlands GOTY (Amazon, $7.49)
Endless Space (GMG, $22)
Sniper Elite (Amazon $15)
From the actual sale:
Hard Reset - $3.75
From Dust - $3.74
Payday - $3.75
Fallout New Vegas Ultimate - $9.99
Driver: SF - $7.49, game is unplayable though, so I'm trying to get my money back.
SPAZ - $2.49
Freebies from Amazon:
EUIII Chronicles
Mount And Blade: Warband
Pretty light sale for me. I was thinking about some other stuff (MP3 especially), but there's only so much time in a day. I'll pick up MP3 once it's cheaper and I have less "new" stuff to play.

Yeah, I wanted to get Max Payne 3 but it wasn't low enough for me to bite. I'll probably wait for it to drop in price naturally.

I was pretty tempted to grab Batman AC with all the DLC as it was so cheap and apparently looks better on the PC, but I just didn't feel like tackling the whole game over again.
BTW : Doesn't the Steam sale really make you start to resent XBLA? Seeing things like Bastion, Alan Wake's American Nightmare and Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet for $3.75 just makes me so reluctant to spend 1200 points on anything any more.

Yep. I'm currently transitioning to Steam from XBLA. It's so hard to justify that. I can't wait for FEZ to break free from its exclusivity.

Most of the games I wanted were either too "high" or I've already played them on the Xbox 360.
So I only got Batman AC... that I've already played.

Ditto. Plus you just know that a GOTY edition is coming with all their planned DLC included. I should have waited before buying LA Noire, so I'm intending on making up for that mistake with Max Payne. But I really did enjoy the game when I rented it.

I plan to do a little more PC gaming. My laptop(1 year old) is more powerful than i thought it was and plays games at medium at least. Deus Ex HR looks very nice on it.

This sale really sucked compared to last years. That might be cause i bought a ton of games last sale But on the other hand i noticed a lot more repeats than any other sale.

The last two games I picked up were Fallout 3 (GOTY Edition) and Fallout: New Vegas (Ultimate Edition).
In my defense, I walked out of this summer sale with spending no more than $35 which my wife is probably grateful about ...
... now, uh, just to find time to play all these games I bought.

What happens is, after you've been through a few of these, you've accumulated so many games that there's not much left to get.

This seems as good a place as any to post this : The folks who put out Dungeon Defenders just came out with a free DLC pack that includes the new Jester character class. After this week it jumps in price to $3.99. It's free for everyone whether you own the game or not. Just go here and click on "Install Game" to own the DLC for the game.
