New Star Wars game franchise to be revealed this week

Spike TV’s plans to exclusively unveil the newest game franchise in the “Star Wars” universe, which will debut at the 2012 Electronic Entertainment Expo. A first look at this top secret project will be revealed on Thursday, May 31, as a part of the pre-E3 episode of Spike’s hit video game show “GTTV,” followed by the live world gameplay premiere of this new “Star Wars” franchise during the network’s “E3 All Access Live” primetime special on June 4 at 10:00 pm ET/7:00 pm PT.

“I am blown away by both the caliber of the team on this project and their bold vision for this new ‘Star Wars’ title,” said Geoff Keighley, Host and Executive Producer, Spike TV’s “E3 All Access Live” special. “I can’t wait to introduce our viewers to this game and show off the footage that left my jaw on the floor when I first saw it.”

During the GTTV pre-E3 episode, Geoff Keighley travels to San Francisco for exclusive behind-the-scenes access into the LucasArts studio. GTTV also meets with the LucasArts’ development team to reveal the name and concept behind this game and introduces viewers to the talented artists who are bringing the E3 demo to life.
Some of the NeoGAFers are saying that LucasArts are making "an FPS, action/adventure game, and open world RPG internally," as well as an aerial space combat game. There's also speculation that this is the mysterious Star Wars 1313 project, and may be related to Boba Fett somehow.

So. . . any ideas on what this may be?

Re: New Star Wars game franchise to be revealed this week

I really love the idea of this being an open-worlder featuring Boba Fett, as was suggested in the NeoGAF thread.

2013 is already kind of a Fett-centric year, being the 30th anniversary of Return of the Jedi, and also with Attack of the Clones 3D hitting theaters, so to me a Boba Fett game makes a lot of sense.

Boba Fett, Assassin's Creed-style.

I would love the idea of a Star Wars game 1st person RPG like Fallout 3

I'm not going to speculate, or hope for this to be good. The Star Wars franchise has kicked me in the balls too many times over the last decade.

X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter. Don't argue with me, LucasArts.

This will be blasphemy, but you know what, FPS/RPG ala Borderlands. Star Wars games have a rocky past and FPS games are hard to fuck up.

Knowing Lucas, even the "secret" Boba Fett game is probably something where you have to spend 10 levels escaping from the Sarlacc's digestive tract.

Han Solo versus Greedo, the light gun battle.

I can see the tag line now: Lucas is finally going to show you who really shot first, bitch with the Playstation Move and Kinect for the Xbox 360.

Han Solo Adventures would make a great series. Set it before Episode 4 they could make some cool missions with that character.

An open ended space combat/sim/RPG like Pirateer or Freelancer. It would be cool to have some elements be on the planets but the majority would be flying missions and whatnot.

Re: New Star Wars game franchise to be revealed this week

I will be cautiously optimistic, but LucasArts has a history of slapping their name on any piece of shit Star Wars game that comes along. I would estimate that only about 10% of them are any good. So we'll see....
