What was the first video game system you owned?

The first video game system that I owned was the original Nintendo Entertainment System (the one that came with two controllers, the light gun and the Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt game pak). At the same time I also received the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game:

I think it was the Atari 5200 followed by the NES and Sega Master System.

Coleco Telstar - still have it and it still works. Tennis (pong), "hockey", and handball.

Born in 1980, my family got an Atari 2600 around 1981. Played that until we got an NES when I was around 7.
First system I bought with my own money was a Playstation 2 in 2001 (every previous system was a gift)

Not sure of the exact model, but it was an Odyssey 400?, perhaps some model#. But definitely the one where it just had 3 dials on each side to control your player's side. And it was basically just Pong.

When I was a kid, my family had a Tandy computer that I used pretty much exclusively to play games (Kings Quest, The Black Cauldron, Dr. J vs Larry Bird, the original Madden football), but I guess the NES was the first pure video game system that I owned. We had the one that came with the Power Mat. Probably the best Christmas ever.

A secondhand Atari 2600, which never really worked correctly as far as I can recall.

NES was the first that I owned and played extensively.

My dad gave me his Intelevision right around the time the NES got hot.

Had something like this, but it was black and silver. I no clue what it was called.

Intelevision was the first real system we had. I still love Utopia.

Same. Got mine as birthday gift in 1980 along with Pac-Man and Laser Blast. Best birthday gift I ever received.

I had a sears version of the telstar thing. Fun stuff. Might still be in my parents' attic.
Other than that:
Atari 2600 - Christmas gift for the family. I think Space Invaders was the first game we got other than Combat.
Then the 7800 (never got the 5200 but my next door neighbor did); then an NES; then a hiatus from gaming while I discovered girls in HS and college; then the Sega Genesis thanks to a buddy who introduced me to Shining Force; then the Sega CD and *shudder* Sega 32x; then the PS1; then Saturn, Dreamcast, PS2, Wii, and Xbox 360. I think that's the order. The only one I got on launch was the 32x, and boy that showed me.

Same here, except I had asteriods instead of Laser Blast.

Me too - bought it on November 10th, 1979, on a Saturday, two days before my 14th birthday! I had already bought two cartridges for it months before - Street Racer and Outlaw.

I think I had an Intellivision first, but an Atari 2600 was purchased at a garage sale around the same time.

The first one I got as a memorable present was an NES.

Intellivision and then later on NES.

We got the Atari 2600 the first Christmas it was out, but at least a year before that we had one of those Pong games.
